Southbound Visits and Orientation

The Office of Southbound Visits and Orientation helps new students transition from their previous institution to USA. In addition to registering for classes with an academic advisor, new students should also attend orientation to become familiar with the campus services, support, and resources available for students at South.

All new, incoming, undergraduate students must attend Southbound Orientation for the academic term in which they plan to enroll. This includes:

  • Incoming freshman and adult freshman students
  • Incoming transfer (including Pathway USA participants) and second bachelor’s students
  • All incoming undergraduate students that previously registered for orientation for a previous academic term but did not take classes at South for that term

Students will be assessed an orientation fee which is valid for the current term and will be reassessed if they change their enrollment term.

Orientation registration must be completed online. Only admitted students may register for orientation. Note that non-degree or guest/transient students are not required to attend orientation, but may do so if they choose.

Students admitted to the professional component of their program and graduate students will receive a specialized orientation through their departments.
