South Alabama offers special programs to provide opportunities to students who have excelled while in high school.
For the local Mobile and Baldwin County students, our Accelerated College Enrollment Program(ACEP) allows students to take a course at no charge during the fall semester of the senior year.
We offer early acceptance programs for our College of Medicine, College of Nursing, and Physical Therapy program. All students who meet the requirements by the specified deadlines will be considered. These programs are highly competitive, and students interested in these programs are encouraged to apply early.
The USA Honors program allows students to be challenged academically while in the classroom. The class sizes are small, and the faculty work closely with these students throughout their undergraduate term through teaching, research, and service.
Learning Communities are a component of Academic Success and Retention and provide a way for students to connect as freshmen at USA. Learning Communities can be major specific or for students with shared interests. Students are enrolled in two or more classes together, giving them the opportunity for more a more positive social life and higher levels of student-faculty interaction. Any incoming freshman can participate in a learning community, and the freshman halls Epsilon I, Epsilon II, and the New Residence Hall are designated for learning community participants.
