South Paw Swim Masters Swim Club

South Paw Swim Masters Swim Club

A fitness program for swimmers, tri-athletes, or anyone wishing to train, swim, or compete, in aquatics. Our goal is to connect swimming enthusiasts together in a fun, safe, and positive social setting. SPAW consists of USA students, faculty, and alumni. We offer coach led practices and opportunities to compete in and around our community.

You must be a member of the Student Recreation Center to join SPAW. Membership is free to all members of the Student Recreation Center.  If you are interested in joining our Master's Swim Club, please register below.

Can anyone who is a SRC member join?

There are a few factors to take into consideration before determining if SPAW is right for you. You should be able to efficiently swim all of the major strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly) and be able to swim continuously for a minimum of 500 yards. Take into consideration how long you've been out of the water, your general fitness level and your previous swimming experience. We have a wide range of abilities on the team so if you are not sure if SPAW is right for you, drop-in and try a workout.

Are you required to sign up for United States Masters Swimming (USMS)?

There are a lot of benefits to signing up for USMS but we do not require it. If you want to compete in the mets, USMS membership is required.

Practice Sessions

Saturdays 9:00 AM
SPAW Team Training

Every Saturday the group meets at the indoor pool and trains with a coach on deck. There will be a written workout on the white board for the Saturday training and additional workouts to train during the week. The coach is there to help you with stroke refinement, turns and starts, and everything else you need to become a better swimmer.
