Sigma Gamma Epsilon UCUR Endowed Award
This scholarship was established in 2012 by Sigma Gamma Epsilon to give support to undergraduate research efforts at USA and to recognize the best poster at the annual Symposium. Student must fully comply with the submission requirements in force at the time of the completion and be an undergraduate in any discipline. Student must be the author of the best research poster submitted.

Clifton Inge Endowed Book Award
This scholarship was established in 2007 for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a member of the USA Baseball team who exhibits high academic achievement.

George Smith Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund
This scholarship was established in 2007 for the purpose of providing financial assistance to an outstanding student with an interest in majoring in communications and pursuing a career in either sports journalism, radio/television journalism with an emphasis on sports reporting or sports information. This scholarship is a one year non-renewable scholarship and was made possible by Ms. Roberta A. Smith.

Thomas and Barbara Corcoran Scholar Athlete Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2007 for the purpose of providing financial support to the most outstanding USA scholar athlete at the end of their junior year who excels in both his or her sport as well as in academic achievement. USA juniors who excel in their respective sport and maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA will be nominated by their head coach and have their names submitted to the USA Athletic Awards Committee for annual selection who will recommend an award winter to the Director of Athletics. This scholarship was made possible by donations from Mr. E. Thomas Corcoran, Jr.

McKinney Family Endowed Scholarship Fund for Track Students
This scholarship was established in 2007 for the purpose of providing financial assistance to deserving student on the USA Track Team. This scholarship was made possible by the donation from R. Lee McKinney, II.

Forrest W. and Beverly B. Crowder Scholarship for Baseball Players
This scholarship was established in 2008 for the purpose of providing financial support to an outstanding USA student, who is a former Baseball Team player. Candidates must be current students and former members of the USA Baseball team who have completed their NCAA eligibility, or have been injured and can no longer participate in the baseball program, but not yet achieved their undergraduate degree, or received an undergraduate degree and currently working toward a graduate degree at USA. Must have a minimum 2.5 GPA. Academics, activities, and leadership are considered in awarding this scholarship. This scholarship was made possible by donations from Forrest W. and Beverly B. Crowder.

James Taylor Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 1996 in recognition of James "Jimmy" Taylor by the donation from Larry D. Striplin, Jr.

Shirley Marie Holt Memorial Scholarship Fund
A special Memorial Fund has been established at the University of South Alabama to honor the spirit and perpetuate the memory of Shirley Marie Holt, who died August 29, 1985, after and extensive illness. Shirley worked in the Athletic Department Office for over five years, and while getting acquainted with all of the fans, coaches, student athletes, cheerleaders, faculty and staff, she became an avid Jaguar fan and supporter. Candidates must be a student athlete as an official member of a particular sport and have a minimum 2.0 GPA.

Denny-Gottfried Athletic Endowed Scholarship Fund
This scholarship was given in appreciation and recognition of Joe Gottfried for his many contributions to the USA athletics program, and should be awarded to a student-athlete in most financial need who has completed their NCAA eligibility but not yet achieved their undergraduate degree. Student must have a minimum 2.5 GPA. This scholarship was made possible by the donations of W. Andrew Denny.

Jim and Carol Statter Scholarship
The Jim and Carol Statter Endowment Fund was established in April 2014 by Jim and Carol Statter. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to a student who is a former athlete and has completed his/her NCAA eligibility. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 overall GPA, be within two semesters of completing their undergraduate degree, and not be receiving other scholarship assistance. Academics, activities, and leadership are considered in awarding this scholarship.

Allied Health - Biomedical Sciences

Dr. Julio and Barbara Turrens Scholarship
The Dr. Julio and Barbara Turrens Scholarship was established in April 2015 by Dr. Julio and Barbara Turrens. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to students majoring in either Biomedical Sciences or Mechanical Engineering. Applicants should have a minimum 3.0 GPA and be enrolled in 300/400 level courses.

Patsy Capps-Covey Biomedical Sciences Scholarship in Allied Health
Awarded to a junior or senior majoring in BioMedical Sciences who has demonstrated need, academic competence, and has participated in BMD extracurricular activities and/or service.

T. G. Jackson- Alpha Epsilon Delta Scholarship
This scholarship was originated by AED alums. Alabama Zeta chapter of Alpha Epsilon Delta announces a prestigious scholarship program. The AED/T.G Jackson Scholarship is an annual, non-renewable scholarship awarded to an outstanding junior or senior, who is also an AED National member. The recipient must be enrolled as a full-time student each semester (15 hours) and maintain at least a 3.5 grade point average for fall semester to receive the scholarship in spring semester.

Allied Health - Dean's Office

Alcoa Fund Grant
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to students enrolled in the upper division of BMD and SPA or Professional Component of PT, OT, CRC, RAD or other future Allied Health programs. Students must be in good academic standing with a minimum 2.5 GPA and must demonstrate financial need as determined by the USA Office of Financial Aid.

Celia A. Wallace Endowed Scholarship in Allied Health
The purpose of this scholarship, established in 2008 by Mrs. Celia A. Wallace, is to provide funding to a full-time student who has been accepted into one of the professional undergraduate or graduate programs in Allied Health. It will be used to recruit academically and/or clinical gifted students based on their Pre-professional record.

Dr. Richard E. Talbott Dean's Endowed Scholarship
The Dr. Richard E. Talbott Dean's Endowed Scholarship was established in November 2010 by Dr. and Mrs. Richard E. Talbott. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to a full-time graduate majoring in the College of Allied Health Professions. Applicants must have a minimum 3.5 GPA and a minimum 1000 GRE score. 

Allied Health - Emergency Medical Services

Mary Ann Talley Memorial Endowed Scholarship
The Mary Ann Talley Memorial Endowed Scholarship was established in 2016 to provide a summer tuition scholarship to a student majoring in Emergency Medical Services in the Pat Capps Covey College of Allied Health Professions. Students must be in the paramedic program and have a minimum 3.2 GPA.

Student who have been previously awarded this scholarship shall be ineligible for consideration in the following years. This scholarship is awarded for the summer semester only.

Allied Health - Occupational Therapy

Klie Davis Faulkner Endowed Scholarship in Occupational Therapy
The Klie Davis Faulkner Endowed Scholarship in Occupational Therapy was established to provide financial assistance to MS II students in their summer rotations. Applicants must be in good standing in the Department of Occupational Therapy within the Pat Capps Covey College of Allied Health Professions. Preference shall be given to applicants who demonstrate leadership and community service.

Allied Health - Physical Therapy

Walter Gault Scholarship in Physical Therapy
This scholarship, named in memory of the first Chair of the Department, was developed through donations from faculty, current students, and a department alumni. The scholarship is awarded annually to a student who has completed the first year of the professional component of the Physical Therapy program. Nominations are made by the faculty with consideration for financial need, overall GPA, GPA from PT courses, and extracurricular leadership and service. Students who are nominated by faculty will be asked to complete an information form for the scholarship committee.

Charles P. Gray Scholarship in Physical Therapy
Dr. Fell and the faculty established this scholarship in 2008 to honor Dr, Gray upon his retirement after nearly 33 years of service to the Department of Physical Therapy. From 1976 when he taught the very first PT class at USA through 2008, Dr. Gray amazingly taught Human Anatomy, functional anatomy and goniometry/muscle testing among many other topics to 893 individuals who now practice PT across the country. The scholarship was further developed through donations from faculty, current students especially the DPT Class of 2007, and department alumni reaching the target corpus in less than one year. The scholarship is awarded annually to a student who has completed the first year of in the professional component of the Physical Therapy program based on academic performance in Human Anatomy I & II, overall PT GPA in the first year and recommendations from the faculty.

Dr. James C. Wall & Dr. George Turnball Physical Therapy Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2010 for the purpose of providing financial assistance to students who have completed the second year of the graduate physical therapy program and have a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Shirley Dean Panus Physical Therapy Scholarship
The scholarship was established in 1995 by alumnus Dr. Peter Panus who was the 2012 inductee into the College of Allied Health Professions Alumni Hall of Fame. The purpose of this award is to provide financial assistance for Physical Therapy students who are interest in, and who have demonstrated strong interest in a potential for a career in academic Physical Therapy - to include both teaching and research. Eligible students must be enrolled in the professional component of Physical Therapy, must be in good academic standing. Since the first award in 1996 the scholarship has been awarded to a student in the final year of the Physical Therapy program. Physical Therapy students must be nominated by a Faculty member for this award.

Shannon McCoy and Rosemary Archambault Norris Physical Therapy Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 1996 and is administered by the Scholarship and Awards Committee of the Department of Physical Therapy. The fund supporting this scholarship originated from donations from the Physical Therapy Class of 1994, in memory of a classmate, Shannon McCoy, and donations made in honor of a former Department Char, Rosemary Archambault Norris upon her departure from the University. These funds were combined in 1996 to support awarding of an annual scholarship. It will be awarded to a student who has completed the first year of the professional component of the Physical Therapy program. In addition, eligible must be in good academic standing (> 3.0 overall GPA). Once the call for applications is given, interested students must complete an application form and submit it during Spring Semester of the first year of the program. The committee will then determine the recipient, as well as the amount and semesters of the award, which will vary depending on funds available.

Anne Harrison Petty PT Scholarship
This scholarship was developed in 2004 in honor of Anne Harrison Petty, a physical therapist since 1977, and the department Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education from 1989 to 2004. The fund was developed through faculty, student and alumni donations, and it is awarded annually to a student who has completed the first year of the professional component of the Physical Therapy program.

Bud and Dot Phillips PT Scholarship
The purpose of this scholarship is to provide monetary support to a first year physical therapy student who demonstrates excellence in academics and the admissions process. The scholarship, established by Dr. Dennis and Noel Fell, honors her parents, Milton A. "Bud" and Dorothy S. "Dot" Phillips who were great supporters and recruiters for the PT program.

Thomas and Norma Fell Physical Therapy Scholarship
The Thomas and Norma Fell Physical Therapy Scholarship was established in April 2014 by Thomas W. Fell Jr., Judy Fell Burnham, David E. Fell, Dennis W. Fell, Daniel W. Fell, and Kimberly Fell Feagin. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to a full-time student in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program within the College of Allied Health Professions. Ranking in Admissions calculation, GPA in Physical Therapy courses and GRE score will be considered. A student who has been previously awarded this scholarship shall be ineligible in the following years.

Allied Health - Physicians Assistant Studies

Charles and Dr. Diane D. Abercrombie Scholarship
The Charles and Dr. Diane D. Abercrombie Scholarship was established in April 2015 by Charles and Dr. Diane D. Abercrombie. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to students majoring in Physician Assistant Studies within the College of Allied Health Professions. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, should demonstrate financial need, exemplary record of community service to under served communities, exemplary professional demeanor, and committed mission of serving the under served. Preferences given to students from economically or educationally disadvantaged or comes from a rural and/or medically under served community or meets criteria or meets underrepresented minority status.

Parker Family Physician Assistant Studies Endowed Scholarship
In late 2012 the USA Department of Physician Assistant Studies received its first endowed scholarship due to generosity of Pensacola, FL residents Dr. Ron Parker and his wife Nancy. The goal in creating this scholarship is to give back to deserving students to receive support in their pursuit of becoming a PA health care professional and decreasing the PA workforce shortage in the USA service area.

Allied Health - Radiologic Sciences

Department of Radiology Sciences Scholarship Fund
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a second-year Radiography student.

Mary Lou Littleton Scholarship in Radiologic Sciences
This scholarship was established in 2006 for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a second-year Radiography student who has a minimum 3.0 GPA exhibits motivation, compassion and understanding toward sick or injured patients is successful in the clinical-patient environment has a warm personality towards patients and demonstrates a congenial and professional relationship among radiographers and other members of the health-care team. This scholarship was made possible by Jesse Talbot Littleton, III M.D.

Radiation Therapy Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was developed in 2006 for the purposed of providing financial assistance to a senior undergraduate student enrolled in the Department of Radiologic Sciences' Radiation therapy Program with a minimum of 3.0 GPA. Students must exhibit motivation, compassion, and understanding towards patients be successful in the clinical-patient environment and demonstrates a congenial and professional relationship among radiation therapist other members of the health-care team.

Dr. Charles and Penny Newell Endowed Scholarship in Radiologic Sciences
This scholarship was established in 2011 for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a senior majoring in one of the imaging modalities offered by the Department of Radiologic Sciences. This scholarship was made possible by Dr. Charles W. Newell.

Allied Health - Speech Pathology and Audiology

Marjorie Faircloth Speech Pathology Scholarship
This scholarship was established for the purpose pf providing financial assistance to a deserving student majoring in Speech Pathology.

Dr. Bryce Evans Endowed Book Scholarship
The scholarship was established in 2009 for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a student who has been accepted into the professional component of the Speech Pathology and Audiology program. Preference will be given to students who have participated in a Head Start Program.

Jane and Robert Moore Scholarship
The Jane and Robert Moore Scholarship was established in December 2014 by Jane and Robert Moore. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to a full-time student majoring in the Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology within the College of Allied Health Professions. Applicants should be senior level students with a minimum 3.5 GPA and must maintain satisfactory progress within the program as defined by the University and the department.

Tim Holston Audiology Scholarship
The Tim Holston Audiology Scholarship was established in October 2014 by the USA Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to a full-time current Audiology student who is in good standing with the University.

Watts and Marsh Family Scholarship
The Watts and Marsh Family Scholarship was established in May 2014 by Christopher and Deborah Watts. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to full-time undergraduate students majoring in the Speech Pathology and Audiology Department within the Pat Capps Covey College of Allied Health Professions. Applicants should be rising juniors or a senior who has recently received this scholarship in the prior academic year. Applicants should have a minimum 3.5 GPA and must maintain satisfactory progress within the program as defined by the University and the specified discipline.

Arts and Sciences - Biology

John A. Freeman Biology Scholarship
This scholarship is intended to aid USA students majoring in Biology. Current USA juniors and seniors with a minimum GPA of 3.0 are eligible for this scholarship. As part of your application, an original 500-word essay must be submitted with a description of the following: 1) your accomplishments to date, 2) your goals regarding higher education, career planning, and aspirations as they relate to the field of Biology, and 3) how this award will assist you toward achieving your goals.

Arts and Sciences - Chemistry

T.G Jackson Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship is an annual award given in memory of long-time Chemistry professor, Dr. T.G. Jackson. Applicants must be a declared Chemistry major, with preference given to Health Pre-professional students.

Chemistry Scholarship
This scholarship is for Chemistry majors only. Awards will consist of $1,500 tuition credit to be distributed on an annual basis. The scholarship will support the award recipients through their fourth year as Chemistry majors, provided academic performance is maintained.

Williams-Philips-Van Hook Scholarship in Chemistry/Nursing
This scholarship is renewable and for students in the College of Nursing or majoring in Chemistry who have completed or are currently enrolled in a Chemistry course. Students should have a minimum GPA of 2.0.

Wierzbicki-Salter Scholarship in Chemistry
This scholarship opportunity is renewable and for Chemistry majors only. Applicants must be a declared Chemistry major with sophomore standing or higher with an excellent academic record.

Arts and Sciences - Communication

Eva Golson Film and Television Production Scholarship
The Eva Golson Film and Television Production Scholarship was established in June 2015 by Ms. Eva Golson. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to a student studying film and television production in the Department of Communications within the College of Arts and Sciences. Preference shall be given to students from Mobile or Baldwin County in Alabama.

Michael S. Hanna Endowed Communication Scholarship
The Michael S. Hanna Endowed Communication Scholarship was established in 2009 to honor Dr. Michael S. Hanna, Professor Emeritus of Communication. Hanna served USA and the Mobile community for more than 25 years. He was chair of the department for five years, co-authored six textbooks and received numerous awards, including "Best Faculty Member" for Outstanding Service to USA International Students.
The purpose of this scholarship is to provide communication students an opportunity to excel in their concentration of study.

Arts and Sciences - Dean's Office

Earl P. Andrews, Jr. Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 1990 for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a disadvantaged students. Student must be a rising sophomore, junior, or senior with a declared major in the College of Arts and Sciences. This scholarship was made possible by Olive S. Andrews in memory of her son, Earl P. Andrews, Jr. Students must be enrolled full-time for the upcoming academic year (fall and spring) in order to apply and receive this scholarship.

John M. Compton Scholarship
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a first generation college student with a declared major of either Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Earth Sciences or Physics in the College of Arts and Sciences. Student must have a minimum 2.8 GPA and be at least a sophomore in the fall 2016 semester.

Joseph N. Langan Scholarship
This scholarship was established in honor of Joseph N. Langan for the purpose of providing financial assistance to deserving students majoring in the College of Arts and Sciences who demonstrate high academic achievement.

Fredrick Palmer Whiddon Scholarship in Liberal Arts
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to deserving current undergraduate USA students with a declared major in the College of Arts and Sciences who have demonstrated leadership abilities.

Albert Schweitzer Memorial Scholarship 
This scholarship was established in 2002 for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a rising sophomore, junior, or senior who is a declared major in the College of Arts and Sciences. The student must also have exemplified the ideals of Albert Schweitzer through community service.

Bruce and Patricia McCrory Scholarship in Arts and Sciences
This scholarship was established in 2007 for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a sophomore of higher level undergraduate student that has declared a major in one of the following disciplines in the College of Arts and Sciences: Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Communications, Earth Sciences, English, History, Marine Sciences, Physics, Political Science and Criminal Justice, Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology and Social Work(preference to Sociology and Anthropology). This scholarship was made possible by Bruce and Patricia McCrory.

Ella and Cody Wims Scholarship for Study Abroad
This scholarship, made possible by Dr. Lois Wims, was established in 2007 for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a student towards a study abroad program. Funds may only be used towards a recognized university program, that provides at least a three (3) semester credit hours towards graduation. Freshman, as well as graduating seniors, are ineligible for award.

John S. Keebler, MD Scholarship for Pre-Med Students
This scholarship was established in 2009 for the purpose of providing financial assistance to rising junior students that have declared a sincere desire to to attend Medical School. This scholarship was made possible by Mrs. Joan Marie Keebler.

Spirit of Odyssey Scholarship
This scholarship was established to support a student who displays the importance of continuing education. Primary purpose is to provide financial assistance to a student who has returned to school after an absence of a year or more or those initially delayed in higher education. Student must be a declared major in the College of Arts and Sciences or School of Continuing Education Adult Degree Program.

Mobile Bay Heritage Award Fund
The Mobile Bay Heritage Award is now available for students, student groups and faculty in the College of Arts and Sciences who are in the following majors/programs: African American Studies, Anthropology, Communication, English, Foreign Languages and Literatures, Geography, and History.
The Mobile Bay Heritage Award was established to encourage a project highlighting Mobile County or Baldwin County history, archaeology, and/or culture. Examples of projects might include a fee for a speaker, a photo exhibit, a class field trip, a research stipend, or the publishing of a report. It is made possible by the generous support of donors and is open to students, student groups, or faculty within the specified Departments/Programs listed above in the College of Arts and Sciences. One (1) or more awards may be given, totaling up to $2,950, and the project must be completed either in Spring 2016 or by the end of the Summer 2016 semester. Projects occurring in the same academic year but completed before the award announcement are eligible for reimbursement with appropriate documentation.

AHEPA 310 Senior Housing Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to undergraduate students majoring in a field related to Life Course & Aging Studies in good academic standing based on GPA, academic performance, and an essay on career goals. Students should demonstrate a commitment to working with senior citizens who have limited resources and reside in senior living communities, most especially those AHEPA 310 Senior Housing facilities located in Mobile and Baldwin Counties. The College of Arts and Sciences scholarship selection committee will be charged with the responsibility of selecting the recipient of this scholarship. Nominations for the award must be endorsed by the Director of the USA Programs in Gerontology or the Director of the USA Center for Generational Studies.

Dr. Ross and Charlene Loomis Scholarship in Arts and Sciences
The Dr. Ross and Charlene Loomis Scholarship in Arts and Sciences was established in April 2015 by Dr. Eric Loomis. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to current undergraduate students majoring in the College of Arts and Sciences with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Students must be enrolled full-time for the upcoming academic year (fall and spring) in order to apply and receive this scholarship.

USA Phi Sigma Iota Merit Scholarship
The USA Phi Sigma Iota Merit Scholarship was established in January 2015 by Phi Sigma Iota. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to a full-time undergraduate student currently enrolled at USA. Applicants must have a minimum 3.3 cumulative GPA and minimum 3.35 average GPA in foreign language courses at USA. Applicants should also be an active member of the Phi Sigma Iota organization. Preference given to students who demonstrate dedication to Phi Sigma Iota's missions to promote foreign languages and cultures, participation and leadership in various on campus and off campus activities of the Society's USA chapter.

Mike DeGruy Memorial Scholarship
The Mike deGruy Memorial Scholarship was established in February 2015 by Mr. and Mrs. M. Harland Ison, Jr. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to current undergraduate students majoring in Biology, Chemistry or Physics with an expressed interest in Marine Sciences. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Students must be enrolled full-time for the upcoming academic year (fall and spring) in order to apply and receive this scholarship..

Dr. James W. Green Scholarship for Pre-Med Students
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a full-time Arts and Science major who sincerely desires to attend medical school. Student must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and class status must be a junior or senior.

Developmental Studies Endowed Award
The Developmental Studies Endowed Scholarship is intended for a Developmental Studies student who has shown academic motivation and success. Students should be enrolled in DS, CP, MATH, or LAS courses taught in the Developmental Studies Department and must be recommended by a current USA faculty member (must be sealed and signed across the seal by the recommending individual).

Arts and Sciences - Earth Sciences

James E. Denmark Memorial Scholarship in Geology and Geography
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to the Geology major with the highest academic standing after completing the sophomore geology sequence. Recipients are selected by department faculty based on academic merit and are not required to complete an application.

Desk and Derrick Scholarship in Geology and Geography
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to the Geology major with the highest academic standing in courses leading to a career in the petroleum industry (GY 344, GY 345). 

John Faggard Geology Scholarship
This scholarship was established to provide financial assistance to the Geology major with the highest academic standing who is within one year of graduation. Recipients are selected by department faculty based on academic merit and are not required to complete an application.

Dr. "Bill" Williams Endowed Scholarship in Meteorology
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to junior level students who have completed MET 355 (Dynamic Meteorology II) and have achieved a high overall GPA and an exceptional record in Meteorology. Recipients are selected by department faculty based on academic merit and are not required to complete an application.

Eugene Wilson Geography Scholarship Fund
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to an outstanding Geography student each spring semester. Recipients are selected by department faculty based on academic merit and are not required to complete an application. .

Geology Scholarship Development Fund
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to deserving students majoring in Geology who demonstrate high academic achievement. Recipients are selected by department faculty based on academic merit and are not required to complete an application.

K. Elliot Hagler Memorial Award

Dr. Glenn R. Sebastian Endowed Geology Scholarship
This scholarship was established by Dr. Glenn Sebastian for the purpose of providing financial assistance to deserving students majoring in Geography who demonstrate high academic achievement. Recipients are selected by department faculty based on academic merit and are not required to complete an application.

Victoria L. Rivizzigno Endowed Scholarship in Geography
Given to Geography majors who have an overall GPA of 3.0 and Geography GPA of 3.0. Recipients are selected by department faculty based on academic merit and are not required to complete an application.

Mobile Rock and Gem Society Field School Scholarship
This award was initiated by the members of the "Mobile Rock and Gem Society" in 1999 as a mechanism by which to reward excellence in field work by Geology majors. It is awarded to the student who is judged the best overall field geologist by Dr. David Allison following the Department's GY 480 Field School course. No application is required.

Larry Hays Green Memorial Scholarship in Geology
The Larry Hays Green Memorial Scholarship in Geology was established in September 2014 by Mr. and Mrs. Stephen H. Green. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to sophomore level or higher undergraduate students majoring in Geology within the College of Arts and Sciences. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 overall GPA, be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, have successfully completed at least 10 hours of Geology courses and have an interest in pursuing a career in Geology.

Fearn Undergraduate Summer Research Scholarship in Geography

The Fearn Undergraduate Summer Research Scholarship in Geography provides a stipend for a worthy undergraduate student who wishes to gain hands-on professional experience in a summer research project which should last approximately 8 weeks. A Geography faculty member at University of South Alabama will monitor progress of the research. The student will be expected to prepare a written report and/or a poster summarizing the objectives, data collection, analysis, and final conclusions of his/her research findings.

The applicant must be a Geography major in good student standing. He/she should have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher. However, the selection committee may consider students who do not satisfy this requirement if they have performed with excellence in Geography classes (average GPA at least 3.0) taken at University of South Alabama. Applicants must submit a research proposal outlining their research plans for the upcoming summer.

PowerSouth Energy Cooperative Scholarship in Meteorology
The PowerSouth Energy Cooperative Scholarship in Meteorology was established in 2007 for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a deserving student in the Meteorology curriculum. Candidates must be residents of the state of Alabama. Recipients are selected by department faculty based on academic merit and are not required to complete an application.

Arts and Sciences - English

Bobby Holmes Memorial Scholarship in English
Poet and writer Bobby Holmes was student editor of the journal Negative Capability as a USA student. Donated by his parents and friends in his memory, the Bobby Holmes Scholarship provides a yearly award for the Editor-in-Chief of Oracle. Dr. Larry Holmes, Bobby's father, is an emeritus history professor at USA.

China Barber Memorial Scholarship
The China Barber Memorial Scholarship was established in March 2014 by the USA English Department and the College of Education. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to a full time undergraduate Creative Writing student.

Eddie Greene Scholarship in English
The Eddie Greene Scholarship in English was established in April 2015 by The Law Offices of Frazer, Greene, Upchurch and Baker. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to an undergraduate student majoring in English within the College of Arts and Sciences.

Freida Maisel Scholarship in English
An annual award of $1500 to one current freshman (rising sophomore), majoring in English. Applicant must have an ACT score of at least 28 or and SAT score of at least 1250 (reading + math), as well as a GPA of at least 3.5.

Katherine L. Richardson Scholarship
$1,000 to be awarded to a USA student with junior status. Applicant must be full-time English or Secondary Education major and have a 2.5 or above GPA. Applicant must supply a financial needs statement (personal narrative).

Shelley Memorial Undergraduate Scholarship in Creative Writing
Donated by former USA President Moulton and Mrs. Gordon Moulton in honor of her mother, this annual scholarship awards no less than $500 to one undergraduate student for excellence in poetry writing. Applicants should have a 2.5 or above GPA. Applicant must submit 10 - 15 pages of poetry.

Lloyd Dendinger Memorial Scholarship in English
Named after a former faculty member in the English Department, the scholarship provides an annual award for an outstanding graduate student essay in American Literature.

Angelia and Steven Stokes Undergraduate Scholarships

The Dr. Patricia Stephens Memorial Scholarship was established in 2000 by Ms. Lana Silverthorn. This $500 scholarship is awarded to an outstanding essay written by a graduate student seeking an English MA. Applicant must have a 3.5 or higher GPA.

English Endowed Scholarship
Provides an annual award of $500 to an outstanding second-year graduate student who is nominated by the faculty.

Father James F. Dorrill Endowed Scholarship
Named after a former member of the English Department, the scholarship provides for an annual award of $1,000 to be given to the English M.A. student who has produced the best critical (as distinct from creative ) thesis. Eligible theses are those defended during the regular academic year ( fall or spring term ) when the award is made, or during the previous summer term. If, for whatever reason, a thesis award is not made in a given year, a grant of $1,000 is to be awarded to an outstanding first-year, non-creative-writing graduate student in English, as determined by the graduate faculty.

Goessling Scholarship in German
Awarded each spring to an outstanding junior or senior studying German. Scholarship given to the student or students selected by the faculty in recognition of excellence in German.

Margaret Pol Stock Foreign Language Scholarships
This scholarship recognizes excellence in more than one language taught in the Department of Modern and Classical Languages and Literatures at the University of South Alabama. Languages and Literatures as well as International Studies majors who have done coursework in more than one language at USA, including advanced-level work in one of them, and who have an overall GPA of at least 3.0 are encouraged to apply.

Graciella G. Blanco Spanish Language Scholarship
Awarded each spring to an outstanding junior or senior studying Spanish. Scholarship given to the student or students selected by the faculty in recognition of excellence in Spanish. Nominated by Spanish faculty. No application required.

Caldwell Endowment
This scholarship was established in 1993 for the purpose of providing financial assistance to overseas travel for any Arts and Sciences major. This scholarship was made possible by James. P. Caldwell in honor of his parents, Dr. and Mrs. James Caldwell.

Patricia Lane Dyess Scholarship
Scholarship is awarded annually to one, or more, outstanding juniors studying any language and also demonstrating financial need.

Jacqueline Quinn Gray Scholarship in French
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to an outstanding junior or senior studying French. Scholarship given to the student or students selected by the faculty in recognition of excellence in French. No application is required.

Felicia Cooley Award
Provided by Spanish alumna Felicia Cooley, this $250 scholarship is granted to a high-achieving Spanish major who is completing his or her intermediate level of study. The scholarship is to be used solely toward study abroad.

Language Endowment
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to deserving students majoring in Foreign Languages and Literature who demonstrate high academic achievement.

The Foreign Language Scholarship to Study Abroad
The purpose of this scholarship is to support student participation in bona fide study-abroad programs. This scholarship is available to all USA students majoring in Foreign Languages with a concentration in French, German, Russian, or Spanish. Subject to availability of funding, scholarships that help cover travel and cost-of-living expenses that majors would not normally incur as full-time residential students at USA will be provided by the Department up to a maximum of $2000, subject to the availability of funding and the number of eligible applicants. Other departmental scholarships may supplement this amount.

Robert Lager Russian Scholarship
Preference is given to Russian majors who have displayed outstanding knowledge of the language and culture and have a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 and a G.P.A. of 3.25 in the language. Nominations will be made by the faculty; therefore, no application is required.

Lesser Taught Language Program Scholarship
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a deserving studying in the Lesser Taught Language program who has signed up in a Study Abroad program. This award is to enable the student to continue his/her studies in the Lesser Taught Language program language.

Nowlin-Caldwell Scholarship
This scholarship was established to provide financial assistance for students majoring in the College of Arts and Sciences who participate in a recognized study abroad program. Applicants should be sophomore, junior or senior level and be at least 19 years of age prior to departure. Applicants must have a minimum 2.5 overall GPA.

James and Ivel Caldwell Scholarship
The James and Ivel Caldwell Scholarship was established in 1993 for the purpose of providing financial assistance to overseas travel for any Arts and Sciences major wishing to study abroad. Applicants should have a minimum 3.0 GPA in their major and in foreign language courses. This scholarship was made possible by James P. Caldwell in honor of his parents, Dr. and Mrs. James Caldwell.

Erwin W. Goessling Scholarship in German
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to an outstanding junior or senior studying German. Scholarship given to the student or students selected by the faculty in recognition of excellence in German. No application is required.

Howard F. Mahan Outstanding Senior Award
The Howard F. Mahan Outstanding Senior Award recognizes the outstanding academic performance of a senior history major with a 3.0 or higher GPA.  Faculty nominated, no application required.

Leonard A. Macaluso Undergraduate Scholarship
The Leonard A. Macaluso Undergraduate Scholarship was established for the purpose of providing an annual award of up to $800 to an undergraduate student to fund opportunities either for professional development pertaining to the study and practice of history, for studying abroad in a program led by a USA History faculty member, or for history majors enrolling in any study abroad program. Strong preference will be given to history majors for either professional development or study abroad.

Macy Wims Reid Scholarship in History
The Macy Wims Reid Scholarship is awarded to a high achieving junior or senior history major with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.  Faculty nominated, no application required.

Melton McLaurin Graduate Fellowship
The Melton McLaurin Graduate Fellowship has been established as a competitive fellowship intended to support graduate student research or professional development. All graduate students pursuing a Master’s degree in History at the University of South Alabama are eligible to apply.

The McLaurin Fellowship will offer a stipend of up to $1,300. Depending upon the number and nature of applications received, more money may be available. With such support, students may travel to archives, libraries, and other institutions that require extended travel and time commitments to conduct research or engage in professional development such as intensive language programs at other institutions, or conference travel related to research interests and/or intellectual interests. Research projects at all stages of development will be considered.

Minnie Lee Wilkins Stallworth Scholarship
The Minnie Lee Wilkins Stallworth Scholarship recognizes the outstanding academic performance of a junior or senior history major with a 3.0 or higher GPA. Faculty nominated, no application required.

Richard M. Meikle Outstanding Junior Award
The Richard M. Meikle Outstanding Junior Award recognizes the outstanding academic performance of a junior history major with a 3.0 or higher GPA.

Stephanie Hardin-Floyd Memorial Scholarship in History
The Stephanie Harding-Floyd Paper Prize for Graduate History Research will be awarded for the best paper produced by a graduate student in the Department of History during the previous year. Students are invited to submit seminar papers or thesis chapters written during the 2014 calendar year. Papers should be no more than 30 pages in length. Students are limited to only one submission.

Arts and Sciences - Mathematics and Statistics

Chris Nash Mathematics and Statistics Scholarship
This scholarship was established to provide financial assistance to an outstanding student majoring in Mathematics and Statistics who achieves the highest score in the annual Math competition.

Mishra Memorial Endowment in Mathematics and Statistics
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a junior or senior majoring in Mathematics, Statistics or Mathematical Education. Student must have a minimum overall 3.0 GPA and a 3.0 GPA in Mathematics and Statistics courses taken at USA. Preference shall be given to Statistics major.

This scholarship was established in 1982 by Dr. Jorge D. Blanco in honor of his father, Dr. Victorino S. Blanco. Department of Music Scholarship
Music scholarships are available to majors and minors in the keyboards, voice and instrumental areas. They require an audition and are renewable annually up to four years provided that the recipient carries a 15 credit hour load (earning 15 credit hours per semester/total of a minimum of 30 credit hours combined for fall and spring semesters), participates satisfactorily in the area(s) for which the scholarship was awarded, satisfactorily make progress toward their degree and maintains a cumulative grade-point average of 2.0 or higher.

John H. Chester Memorial Piano Scholarship in Music
This scholarship is named in honor of Dr. John Chester, a pianist who taught at USA in the 1960's. Scholarships are awarded annually and are available to pianists who are majors and minors. The recipient(s) must be enrolled in applied piano, carry a 12 credit hour load, participate satisfactorily in the area for which the scholarship was awarded and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher. Scholarship recipient(s) are selected by the Department of Music faculty/staff. No application is necessary.

Michael J. Bartels Music Scholarship in Percussion
This scholarship is awarded annually and is made available to majors and minors in percussion. The recipient must be enrolled in applied percussion, carry a 12 credit hour load, participates satisfactorily in the area for which the scholarship was awarded and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher. Scholarship recipient(s) are selected by the Department of Music faculty/staff. No application is necessary.

John W. Laidlaw Scholarship in Music
This scholarship is awarded annually and is available to students in all areas of music study. An audition is required, and student must have a minimum ACT score of 28 or higher and/or a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher and the recommendation of the music faculty. Scholarship recipient(s) are selected by the Department of Music faculty/staff. No application is necessary.

Sue Houston Hanlein Scholarship for Piano Students
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to qualified pianists who are majoring in Music. The recipient must be enrolled in applied piano, carry a 12 credit hour load and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher. Scholarship recipient(s) are selected by the Department of Music faculty/staff. No application is necessary.

Laidlaw Music Scholars
Scholarships are available in all areas of music study and range from $2,000 to $4,000. They require an audition, an ACT score of 28 or higher and/or a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher and the recommendation of the music faculty. Scholarship recipient(s) are selected by the Department of Music faculty/staff. No application is necessary.

Theodore Presser Foundation Scholarship
The Presser Scholarship is awarded by the music faculty to a rising senior music major for a period of two consecutive semesters. The criteria for the award are musicianship, scholarship, and contribution to the department. There is no application form for this scholarship as students must be nominated by a faculty member for consideration. As the name implies, this scholarship is made available to the department through the kind support of the Presser Foundation of Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania.

John and Coralie Toomey Scholarship in Music
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to percussion students majoring in music with a minimum 2.0 GPA and the recipient carries a 12 credit hour load. Charles R. McGlothern, Jr. Memorial Scholarship in Philosophy
This scholarship was established by Mr. Michael McGlothren, a graduate in Philosophy, in memory of his brother, Mr. Charles R. McGlothren, Jr. This scholarship is awarded in the Spring Semester to philosophy majors with the highest academic merit as determined by the Department faculty. This scholarship was established by Mr. Julian Marx for the purpose of providing financial assistance to Philosophy majors with outstanding academic merit as determined by the Department faculty. Students must have a minimum of 3.5 GPA in philosophy courses have have completed their freshman year.

Arts and Sciences - Physics

Helminger Endowment Fund in Physics
This scholarship was established in 2004 for the purpose of providing financial assistance to outstanding students majoring in physics who also demonstrate high academic achievement.

Jared Adkins Physics Scholarship
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a sophomore or junior physics major. Selection criteria will include overall academic standing, academic standing in physics courses, extra-curricular activities and may include financial need.

Physics Faculty Honors Fellowship
This scholarship covers tuition and fees (up to 16 hrs/semester) for up to four semesters. Awarded to majors with a minimum 3.0 GPA who have completed the introductory physics sequence.

USA Foundation Physics Scholarship
A $1,500 per year ($750 per semester) scholarship will be applied toward academic-year tuition and fee expenses. The scholarship may be renewed a maximum of two additional years.

Arts and Sciences - Political Science and Criminal Justice

James A. Yance Endowed Scholarship for Pre-law Students
This scholarship was established in 2004 for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a student who has completed his/her sophomore year, and has a major interest in Pre-Law studies with the ambition of obtaining a law degree, and is an active participant in student activities at the University. This scholarship was made possible by James A. Yance.

Masters in Public Administration Health Policy Scholarship Fund
This award is given annually to an academically qualified graduate student in the health policy track of the Masters in Public Administration (MPA) program. Recipient is selected by the departmental faculty and no application is required.

David L. Horton Memorial Award for Excellence in Political Science
This award is given annually to the graduating Political Science or Criminal Justice senior with the highest GPA and who demonstrates academic citizenship. Recipient is selected by the departmental faculty and no application is required.

James H. Boyd Memorial Award for Excellence in Public Administration
This award is given annually to a Master of Public Administration graduate student with highest GPA. Recipient is selected by the departmental faculty and no application is required.

Timothy C. O'Shea Outstanding Criminal Justice Student Award
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to the Criminal Justice major with the highest GPA in Criminal Justice. There is no application required for this scholarship.

Alabama Lyric Theater Scholarship for the Performing Arts
Established to support musical theatre students. One scholarship is awarded based upon interview and audition. Faculty nominated, no application required.

Sue Ellen Gerrels and R. Eugene Jackson Scholarship in Drama
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to drama students in the top 10% of their class, with at least three semesters of study at USA. GPA and theatre activities at USA determine awardees. Faculty nominated, no application required.

National Association of Theater Owners of Alabama Scholarship
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to an outstanding Freshman student at USA majoring in theatre. Student must demonstrate high academic achievement. Faculty nominated, no application required.

Laidlaw Performance Scholarship
Donated by local businessman John Laidlaw, these scholarships are designed to support students with an interest and focus in performance and are awarded to students within the Department of Theatre and Dance. Interviews, auditions and demonstration of academic achievement are required.
Awarded two times per year, Fall semester and Spring semester. Students must meet the criteria to apply and qualify and each term.

Arts and Sciences - Visual Arts

Robert Snell Scholarship in Art
Two scholarships of at least $1,000 will be awarded to students who have reached junior standing and are majoring in the Department of Visual Arts. This is a need based scholarship requiring a 3.0 GPA. The scholarship will be awarded in the Spring Semester and is not renewable. Portfolio and transcript are required.

Endowed Scholarship in Art
The Department of Visual Arts will award each year to a freshman or sophomore Visual Arts major. The scholarship will be awarded in the Spring semester and is not renewable. Portfolio and transcripts required.

Endowed Visual Arts Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a current Art, or Art History major. The award is made each Spring and is not renewable. Portfolio and transcripts required.

Gordon B. and Martha Kahn Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2008 for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a deserving student majoring in Art or Art History who demonstrates talent and financial need. This scholarship was made possible by Gordon B. and Martha Kahn and is not renewable. Portfolio and transcripts required.

Mary Noland Glass Art Scholarship
The Mary Noland Glass Art Scholarship is awarded to a current, declared, major in Glass within the Department of Visual Arts. Applicants must have a minimum 2.5 overall GPA, with preference given to students with a 3.0 or higher. The scholarship is awarded in the Spring semester and is not renewable. Portfolio and transcripts are required.

Glass Art Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to deserving students majoring in Glass Art who demonstrate high academic achievement. Applicants must have a minimum 2.5 overall GPA, with preference given to students with a 3.0 or higher.

V. Gordon Moulton Memorial Scholarship in Glass Art
This scholarship was established in 2013 by Mrs. Moulton in memory of her late husband, former USA President Gordon Moulton, for the purpose of providing financial assistance to students majoring in Visual Arts with a concentration in Glass Art. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 overall GPA.

College of Education Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded annually to a full-time undergraduate student in the College of Education who plans to teach, and has attained Senior status in a College of Education teacher certification program completed 90 hours in a Teacher Education Program been admitted to Teacher Education Candidacy and possesses a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.75 at the University of South Alabama, and a minimum cumulative USA GPA in his/her Program Component of 3.75.

Captain Allen U. Graham Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2003 by Mr. and Mrs. Harvey B. Cox, III and Ms. Nichole Graham Salzillo in memory of Captain Allen Graham, who was one of the first USA graduates killed in Vietnam. The purpose of this memorial scholarship is to provide financial assistance to a full-time junior or senior level student in the College of Education. Student must major in secondary education with a concentration in a STEM field (science, technology, engineering, or math). Preference given to students underrepresented in the student population.

J. Howe and Annie Bell Hadley Memorial Scholarship
Awarded annually to an outstanding and deserving student in the College of Education. Students must have attained Senior Status in a College of Education undergraduate program (96 hours, or more) prior to application, completed 90 Program hours prior to application, and have been admitted to Teacher Candidacy prior to application. Students should also have a USA cumulative GPA of 3.2 and a Program Component Cumulative GPA of 3.2.

Malcolm R. Howell Endowed Scholarship in Education
This scholarship is awarded annually to a full-time undergraduate student in the College of Education who plans to teach, and has declared a major in a teaching curriculum in the College of Education. Students must be enrolled in the USA College of Education, be in good standing according to University policies, and have declared a teaching curriculum as a major to qualify. Students should also have a University of South Alabama Cumulative GPA of 3.00 and a Program Component Cumulative GPA of 3.00.

Ralph Jones Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded annually to a full-time undergraduate student in the College of Education who plans to teach, and has been approved for financial aid by the University of South Alabama Office of Financial Aid attained Senior status in a College of Education teacher certification program completed 90 hours in a Teacher Education Program been admitted to Teacher Education Candidacy and possesses a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2 at the University of South Alabama, and a minimum cumulative GPA in his/her Program Component of 3.2.

Linda Reaves Endowment for Educators in Science and Mathematics
This scholarship is awarded annually to a full-time undergraduate student to support academic preparation for a career as a science or mathematics educators. Students must have a declared major or minor that includes science and/or mathematics, declared intentions of becoming a science or math teacher, attained Junior status prior to application, and completed 64 Program hours prior to application. Students should have a minimum University of South Alabama Cumulative GPA of 3.75 and Program Component Cumulative GPA of 3.75.

Dr. Richard L. Hayes Endowed Scholarship in School Counseling
Established to provide financial assistance to a student in the USA Graduate Program in School Counseling. Scholarship is awarded annually and applied to annual tuition costs. Student must have completed at least 18 hours within the program and must have a demonstrated commitment to employment in public schools.

The Daniel Foundation of Alabama Endowed Scholarship for Teachers
This scholarship is awarded annually to outstanding incoming freshmen students to the University of South Alabama, College of Education who demonstrate high academic achievement and an interest in working in Alabama. One or more incoming freshmen students will receive tuition assistance awards of $1,500 or more in amounts to be determined by the University. Students should be an incoming Freshman in the College of Education, submit a letter showing interest in teaching in the state of Alabama, and have a GPA of at least 3.0.

Patricia Kelly Lofton Endowed Scholarship for Teachers Fund
This scholarship is awarded annually to a full-time junior or senior level student in the College of Education, who demonstrates academic achievement with a preference given to minority students majoring in elementary education.

The Helping Hands for the Children Fellowship
This scholarship is awarded annually to a full-time Junior, Senior, or Graduate level student in the College of Education who demonstrates high academic achievement and an interest in working in the Class Act Program at the USA Children's and Women's Hospital. The award recipient will provide an average of 7.5 hours per week of direct service to the Class Act Program for 10 weeks during both Fall and Spring semesters. If the student fails to complete the obligation of hours to the hospital, the award will be withdrawn for the second semester. Preference will be given to students who are graduates of high schools in Mobile, Baldwin, and surrounding counties and who have demonstrated career interests in working with school-aged children and their families. Students must have attained Junior, Senior or Graduate level status in a College of Education program prior to application, and completed 64 Program hours prior to application. Students must also have a minimum University of South Alabama Cumulative GPA of 3.20 and a Program Component Cumulative GPA of 3.20.

College of Education Faculty Alumni Scholarship for Classroom Teachers
Scholarship is awarded to an outstanding teacher in the Mobile County public school system or Baldwin County public school system who completed his/her undergraduate work through the University of South Alabama, College of Education. Student must be a returning student enrolled in the graduate degree program for Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education or Reading.

Layonne Simon Endowed Book Award
This scholarship is awarded annually to an outstanding College of Education student who will be entering his/her senior year of studies at the University of South Alabama and who demonstrates academic excellence and achievement in the classroom. Students must be enrolled in the USA College of Education and applying for the book award for the senior year of studies and be in good standing according to University policies. Preference should be given to a minority student and to who has majored in reading. Students should also have a minimum University of South Alabama Cumulative GPA of 3.0 and a Program Component Cumulative GPA of 3.00.

Williams Charitable Foundation Book Award
Students must be enrolled in the College of Education at the University of South Alabama. Preference shall be given to a student who has participated in the Team Focus Program and provides documentation of participation. Should there be no student from the TeamFocus Program in the College of Education, the scholarship may be awarded to another student. The student must have a cumulative 2.0 GPA upon enrolling at the University or be in good standing according to USA policies and procedures.

White-Spunner Endowment Scholarship in Education
This scholarship is awarded annually for tuition to an outstanding student entering the junior or senior level of study within the College of Education. Students must be enrolled full time in the USA College of Education, be entering junior or senior year of study and be in good standing with all University policies. Preference is given to a student with financial need.

William Chamberlain Technology Teaching Award
This scholarship is awarded annually to one, or more, full-time undergraduate students in the College of Education who have completed courses EDM310 or any successor course in the College of Education that prepares students to use technology in their teaching career. The recipient should be a student who demonstrates outstanding evidence of an enthusiasm for an ability in using technology in their teaching. Students must be enrolled in the USA College of Education, be in good standing according to University policies, and have declared a teaching curriculum as a major to qualify. Students must have a minimum University of South Alabama Cumulative GPA of 3.0 and a Program Component Cumulative GPA 3.0.

Travis M. Bedsole, Jr. and Susan D. Bedsole Endowed Scholarship in Education
This scholarship will be awarded to a student athlete who has attained Junior or Senior status in the College of Education and who has declared Education as their major. Students must be a Junior or Senior in the College of Education, must be an education major, have a GPA of at least 2.75 or above, be enrolled as a full-time student, and be a member in good standing of an NCAA-sanctioned team.

Betty and Richard Wold Education Administration Endowed Scholarship
Scholarship is awarded annually for tuition to an outstanding student enrolled in the Education Administration non-certification Master's Program through the College of Education.

Burnette S. Tillinghast, Jr. Graduate Scholarship in School Counseling
Scholarship is awarded annually to provide financial assistance for tuition to the University of South Alabama. Student must be enrolled in the USA Graduate Program in School Counseling and must have at least a 3.5 University of South Alabama Cumulative GPA.

Dr. Elizabeth F. Martin and Dr. William M. Scrivner Scholarship
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a full time female student who has attained junior or senior status in the College of Education, completed 64 Program hours and has been admitted to Teacher Candidacy. Student must have a minimum 3.2 USA cumulative GPA and Program Component Cumulative GPA.

Alfred F. Delchamps, Sr. Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded annually to a full-time undergraduate student in the College of Education who plans to teach, and has been approved for financial aid by the University of South Alabama Office of Financial Aid attained Junior or Senior status in a College of Education teacher certification program completed 64 hours in a Teacher Education Program been admitted to Teacher Education Candidacy and possesses a minimum cumulative GPA in his/her Program Component of 3.2. The application must be completed fully and include all of the following to be considered: Personal statement and personal goals, Evidence of professional interest/involvement (memberships in professional organizations, volunteer work,etc.), and paragraph stating why scholarship would be of help. Must have completed a financial aid application and been approved for aid by USA Office of Financial Aid, prior to application date.

Alane and Mark Hoffman Special Education Certification Endowment
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to College of Education students who are in the K-6 teacher education program, have been approved to register for an internship, has received a passing score on all four certification exams, and has a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference will be given to students who demonstrate financial need. In March 2014, Alane and Mark Hoffman established this scholarship because they have a passion to see more students receive certification in special education. This scholarship is to help students be able to take the special education certification so they are more prepared teaching in our school systems.

Valerie R. Morgan Memorial Scholarship in Graduate Education
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to students in the graduate program in the College of Education who are currently employed teachers or has taught two to five years in the field. Students must exhibit financial need. Ronald E. Morgan, Jr. established this scholarship in April 2012 to honor his mother, Valarie Reen Morgan, in hopes that her compassion transpires to those selected to receive this scholarship.

Jeanne M. Sanderford Scholarship
The Jeanne M. Sanderford Scholarship was established in December 2013 by Jeanne M. Sanderford. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to a full-time student majoring in the College of Education. Applicants should be entering their senior year, have a minimum 3.5 GPA and a minimum 23 ACT. Preference shall be given to a student that plans to pursue a career in school or community counseling. Preference shall also be given to students from the Mobile, Alabama area.
A student who has previously been awarded this scholarship shall be ineligible in the following years.

Barbara Philips Endowed Award for Special Education Teachers
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a full-time Junior or Senior student majoring in Special Education in the College of Education who is specializing in a field that leads to certification as a special educator in the state of Alabama. Student should have a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Harold Bickel Memorial Scholarship in Education
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a deserving students majoring in the College of Education in order to promote continued progress in meeting the requirements of academic programs. Student must have a minimum 3.0 GPA.

John Hadley Strange Scholarship
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to an undergraduate student majoring in Education. Student must have completed EDM 310, show strong commitment to project based experiential education, and show effective use of technology as tools in learning.

Keasler/Spillers Scholarship
The Keasler/Spillers Scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to students enrolled in the master or doctoral program in the College of Education.

Layord and Doris Crook Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a deserving student preferably a graduate from the Monroe County, Alabama, public high schools. The student should be enrolled in the USA College of Education.

Ruth M. Gwinn - Heitman Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a student enrolled in Therapeutic Recreation in the Department of Health, Physical Education and Leisure Studies in the College of Education at USA. It is requested, but not required, that the student have an interest in working with the elderly.

Rotary Club of Mobile Scholarship
The Rotary Club of Mobile Scholarship was established in February 2015 by The Rotary Club of Mobile. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to an education major concentrating in the STEM( Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) disciplines, with a particular focus on environmental science, or a student majoring in special education.

Dr. Vaughn Millner Endowed Scholarship in Counseling
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a USA student enrolled in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program and has a minimum 3.5 GPA.

Ronald A. Styron, Sr. Memorial Endowed Scholarship
The Ronald A. Styron, Sr. Memorial Endowed Scholarship was established in 2016 for the purpose of providing a tuition scholarship to a student in the Doctoral of Education Program (EDD) in the College of Education. Student must have a minimum 3.5 GPA and have completed at least two semesters of doctoral work within the EDD program.

This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a deserving current Engineering student. Based on academic excellence and financial need. This scholarship was made possible by Mr. Roy Parish in memory of his son, Earl O. Parish, and his wife, Elizabeth Osenton Parish.

National Association of Women in Construction Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 1981 for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a deserving junior or senior Engineering major. This scholarship was made possible by the Mobile, Alabama Chapter #58 of the National Association of Women in Construction.

Alabama Power Scholars in Engineering
Scholarships awarded annually to currently enrolled rising sophomore Electrical Engineering students. Students must be Alabama residents and the award is based on academic standing.

Boise Cascade Engineering Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded annually to an undergraduate student majoring in either Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering in the College of Engineering at USA. Preference is given to students who are children of current employee(s) (listed as a dependent on company insurance) of Boise's Alabama operations. This scholarship is renewable if student maintains a minimum 2.5 GPA.

MACE/Raburn Engineering Scholarship
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to continuing Engineering students. Award is based on academic excellence and financial need.

Reece and Rose Miller Endowed Scholarship in Engineering
This scholarship was established in 2003 for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a deserving continuing Engineering student. Based on academic excellence and financial need. This scholarship was made possible by Reece and Rose Miller.

Mechanical Engineering Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to deserving current students majoring in Mechanical Engineering.

N-Tron Graduate Scholarship
This scholarship was established by Warren Nicholson for the purpose of providing financial assistance to graduate students majoring in Electrical Engineering. Student must demonstrate high academic achievement as an undergraduate and financial need. There is no application required for this scholarship.

Ted Huddleston Memorial Scholarship in Chemical Engineering
Awarded annually to a rising sophomore or junior student majoring in Chemical Engineering who exhibits academic excellence.

Jim and Diana Laier Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship, made possible by Jim and Diana Laier, was established in 2007 for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a deserving graduate student majoring in Civil Engineering with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Student must be an Alabama resident and graduated from an Alabama high school or undergraduate institution. Faculty nominated, no application required.

Volkert Endowed Scholarship in Civil Engineering
This scholarship was established in 2007 for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a full-time student majoring in Civil Engineering with a minimum 3.0 GPA. This scholarship was made possible by Volker and Associates, Inc.

Keith Harrison Scholarship in Chemical Engineering
This scholarship was established in 2008 for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a deserving student currently majoring in Chemical Engineering. This scholarship was made possible by Dr. B. Keith Harrison.

Engineering Alumni Society Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2008 for the purpose of providing financial assistance to deserving junior or senior students majoring in Engineering. This scholarship was made possible by The College of Engineering Alumni Society.

N-Tron Endowed Scholarship for Undergraduate Students
This scholarship was established in 2008 for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a deserving undergraduate student majoring in Electrical Engineering.

Stallworth Chemical Engineering Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2003 for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a deserving student in Chemical Engineering. A student who has previously received this scholarship is INELIGIBLE for the following years. This scholarship was made possible by Ronnie L. Stallworth, Sr. and his family.

Wynne and Katherine Fuller Endowed Scholarship in Civil Engineering
This scholarship was established in 2008 for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a junior or senior student who is a US citizen. Preference is giving to a non-traditional student who is in the Coop program or interning. This scholarship was made possible by Wynne and Katherine Fuller.

Contractor's Licensing Board Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving graduate student majoring in Civil Engineering who is a resident of the state of Alabama.

Dr. Joseph M. Olsen Endowed Scholarship in Civil Engineering
This scholarship was established in 2010 for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a rising senior in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Geotechnical Engineering and a member of ASCE. Student should also have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher. This scholarship was made possible by Mrs. O'Linn Olsen.

Putcha Family Senior Design Project Endowed Award
This scholarship was established in 2011 for the purpose of providing financial assistance to the winning Senior Design Project in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. This scholarship was made possible by Dr. Saty Putcha.

Laura Christine Prine Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2012 for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a female student majoring in Chemical Engineering. Student must be a US citizen and/or permanent resident of US and have a 3.0 or above GPA. This scholarship was made possible by Betty Cox.

Tau Beta Pi Outstanding Sophomore Scholarship
The Tau Beta Pi Outstanding Sophomore Scholarship is awarded to a full-time sophomore student (to be Junior in the fall) majoring in Engineering. The scholarship provides $1,000 for one year. The recipient must be currently enrolled and must maintain a 3.0 overall GPA.

Georgia-Pacific Scholarship
This scholarship was established by industry partner Georgia-Pacific for the purpose of providing financial assistance to deserving junior or senior students majoring in the College of Engineering.

Chevron Engineering Scholarship
This scholarship was established by industry partner Chevron Products Company for the purpose of providing financial assistance to deserving junior or senior students majoring in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, members of the Society of Women Engineers, or members of the National Society of Black Engineers who have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference given to students who have co-op experience.

Canoe Crew of 1988 Scholarship
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to current undergraduate students majoring in Civil Engineering. Preference given to students who demonstrate strong work ethic, community and student organization involvement (civic involvement, extracurricular activities, financial need, and academic achievement).

Electrical Engineering Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a rising senior student in the College of Engineering. Preference given to students who demonstrate financial need.

Alabama Power Scholarship Endowment II
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to incoming freshmen and transfer students with a declared major in the College of Engineering. Incoming Freshmen should have a minimum 3.5 GPA and a minimum 28 ACT. Transfer Students should have a minimum 3.25 GPA and have completed Calculus II and Physics. Applicants should be Alabama residents.

Nicholson Scholarship in Electrical and Computer Engineering
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a deserving undergraduate student majoring in Electrical or Computer Engineering.

BEST Robotics Engineering Scholarship
High school seniors participation in the Mobile, Alabama BEST Robotics Competition are eligible to apply for USA's BEST Scholarship. The application will be available from your high school counselor Fall semester. The deadline is provided by the Jubilee BEST committee.

CIBA Engineering Scholarship
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to full-time incoming freshman students who plan to have a career in engineering that is directly relevant to Chemical Manufacturing. Students must major in either Chemical Engineering, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering. Student must have a minimum 21 ACT or SAT equivalent and a minimum 2.5 high school GPA. Preference shall be given to students from Washington county. Children of CIBA employees still in "dependent" status may also be considered. If there are no qualified nominees from Washington County or eligible dependent children of CIBA employees then residents of Mobile, Baldwin, Clarke, Choctaw & Escambia counties in Alabama may be considered for eligibility.

College of Engineering Industrial Advisory Board Scholarship
The College of Engineering Industrial Advisory Board Scholarship was established in December 2014 by the College of Engineering Industrial Advisory Board. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to undergraduate students majoring in the College of Engineering.

David R. Dunlap, Jr. Scholarship
The David R. Dunlap, Jr. Scholarship was established in December 2014 by the David R. Dunlap, Jr. Memorial Trust. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to a College of Engineering student who is a resident of Mobile County or Baldwin County in Alabama. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA.

SSAB Endowed Scholarship
The SSAB Endowed Scholarship was established in February 2015 by SSAB Alabama, Inc. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to a full-time junior or senior level student in the College of Engineering. Preference shall be given to students majoring in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering and who are residents of Alabama.

Jim and Dianne Moore Scholarship in Engineering
The Jim and Dianne Moore Endowed Scholarship in Engineering was established to provide an annual tuition scholarship to an incoming freshman with a commitment to major in Engineering, and a distinguished academic record. Preference will be given to students that are residents of South East Louisiana, which includes the following parishes: St. Tammany, Washington, Tangipahoa, Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard, and Plaquemines.

Michael W. Esfeller, Sr. Memorial Mobile Oilmen’s Association Scholarship
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing two $600 annual scholarships for students majoring in Chemical Engineering.

USA-Link Scholarship Engineering
USA-Link Scholarships, $5000/year, are limited to incoming transfer students in the College of Engineering who have a minimum 2.75 GPA and have completed Calculus 2, Chemistry and Cal-based Physics I. The scholarship may be renewed for one additional year, providing recipients are making satisfactory progress to an engineering degree. Scholarships are targeted for underrepresented students (women and ethnic minorities).

Mitsubishi Polysilicon Scholarship in Engineering
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a current junior or senior student majoring in the College of Engineering with a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Mobile County Road Builders Association Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to Civil Engineering majors in their junior or senior year. Students must have a minimum 3.0 institutional cumulative GPA and be graduates from a Mobile County high school.

Art and Shinta Stanley Endowed Book Scholarship
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a junior or senior level student in good standing in USA College of Nursing. Recipient must be a child of a veteran and have a minimum 3.25. Preference will be given to those who demonstrate financial need.

Baldwin County Student Association Endowed Scholarship
The Baldwin County Student Nurses Association Endowed Scholarship was established in 2015 for the purpose of providing a tuition scholarship to student currently enrolled in the Accelerated Nursing Program for at least two semesters (students should apply during their second semester to be awarded funds during their third semester). Student must have unmet financial need as determined by the Office of Financial Aid and have a minimum 3.5 GPA.

A student who has previously be awarded this scholarship shall be ineligible in the following years.

This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to deserving students majoring in the College of Nursing. 

Claude Staples McKee "Baby" Prince Book Award
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to an undergraduate student in the College of Nursing who demonstrated superior academic performance or ability. Preference will be given to nursing honor students.

Clint Harper Scholarship
The Clint Harper Endowed Scholarship was established in November 2014 by Carolyn Dolan. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide  financial assistance to a College of Nursing student who is preferably a returning adult student with a family and intends to go into the Family Nurse Practitioner program.

College of Nursing Dean's Endowment Fund
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to deserving students majoring in the College of Nursing.

College of Nursing Early Acceptance Program Scholarship
This scholarship was established to provide financial assistance to College of Nursing students who are rising sophomores in the Early Acceptance Program. Candidates should have successfully completed their freshman year at USA and have maintained a minimum 3.2 GPA.

College of Nursing MMSI Scholarship
The College of Nursing MMSI Scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to deserving students majoring in Nursing.

Darlene Bailey Briggs and Monica Briggs Sullivan Scholarship
The Darlene Bailey Briggs and Monica Briggs Sullivan Endowed Scholarship was established in July 2015. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to students admitted into the College of Nursing. Applicants must have a minimum 3.5 GPA and be current residents of Alabama.

Students who have previously been selected for this scholarship and maintain the minimum GPA requirement are automatically eligible to receive this scholarship for a second year.

Dearman Family Scholarship in Nursing Education
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a full-time MSN or DNP student enrolled in the Nurse Educator track. Students must have a 3.0 undergraduate nursing GPA, applicants with an MSN must have a minimum 3.5 GPA on all graduate course work. Student who has previously been awarded the scholarship shall be eligible in the following years.

Debra Calvert Davis Nursing Scholarship
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to an undergraduate or graduate student who is admitted to the College of Nursing's professional component. Recipients will be eligible for said scholarship in the following years.

Dr. Cheryl Broadus Robinson Clinical Practice and Research Scholarship
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) student in the USA College of Nursing. Applicants must be currently enrolled in the program and be in good standing.

Dr. Henrietta Brown Endowed Book Scholarship
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a College of Nursing student enrolled in BSN and demonstrates financial need. Preference will be given to minority students. Recipients will be eligible for scholarship in following years.

Dr. Kelly Stauter Scholarship in Traditional DNP
The Dr. Kelly Stauter Scholarship in Traditional DNP was established in 2015 by Dr. Kelly Stauter. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide an extra measure of strength and flexibility that will enable the Doctor of Nursing Practice student to complete learning experiences through the University of South Alabama. Applicants must be full time students enrolled in the traditional DNP/FNP Program, have a minimum 3.5 GPA and serves as the primary income provider for household. Preference shall be given to female students over the age of 40.

Dr. Sherry Daniels Endowed Scholarship Funding Nursing
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a faculty member within the College of Nursing who seeks to obtain additional education at USA.

Drs. Mike and Janice Jacobs Endowed Scholarship for Emergency Nurse Practitioners
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a College of Nursing student in the Emergency Nurse Practitioner program with a minimum 3.0 undergraduate GPA or a minimum 3.5 graduate GPA on all graduate work/ 6+ hrs. per semester/financial need.

Edna T. Miller Nursing Scholarship
The Edna T. Miller Nursing Scholarship was established in December 2013 by William and Anita Miller, Dorothy Miller Green and Stephen Green. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to a student enrolled in an undergraduate program within the College of Nursing. Applicants must be from Alabama, have a minimum 3.0 GPA and maintain satisfactory progress within their program as defined by the University and the specified discipline. Preference shall be given to a veteran or a child of a veteran.

Esther Danielson Jones Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a deserving College of Nursing student with a minimum 3.5 GPA. Preference will be given to students who are planning on practicing in the area of psychiatric nursing and who have demonstrated leadership qualities by performing community service. Scholarship recipient shall not be eligible for scholarship the following year.

Gail Sands Scholarship in Nursing
This scholarship was established to provide financial assistance to a Psych Mental Health NP Graduate Student.

Gilda Marie Tomasso Nursing Scholarship
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a deserving student majoring in Nursing.

Gina L. and W. Allen Cox Scholarship Fund for Neonatal Nurses
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to an undergraduate student in the College of Nursing- Infant Track. Preference given to students from Mobile or Baldwin County, Alabama.

Heather R. Hall Endowed Scholarship for Maternal Child Nursing Students
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a College of Nursing graduate student fully admitted into a maternal child nursing track. Students must have a minimum 3.0 undergraduate nursing GPA and applicants with an MSN must have a minimum 3.5 GPA on all graduate course work. Applicants must be enrolled as full-time (6+ credit hours per semester). Recipient must maintain the satisfactory academic progress standards of the institution. Student shall be eligible for said scholarship in the following years.

Jack and Pat Gosa Endowed Scholarship in Nursing
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a College of Nursing student who is entering his/her junior level or has completed the professional components. Students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and demonstrate financial need. Students should also exhibit strong nurturing and interpersonal skills, be career oriented, and express an interest in seeking advanced degrees in Nursing. Students should include a letter of recommendation from a USA faculty member of other faculty member if he/she is a transfer student.

Jacobs Family Scholarship for Accelerated Nursing Students
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to an accelerated student in the College of Nursing. recipients will be eligible for said scholarship in following years.

Jane Walker Milburn and William Plaxco Walker Endowed Scholarship in Nursing
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a junior level College of Nursing student with a special interest in Oncology or Hospice Nursing. Students should have a minimum 3.0 GPA and 6 hours per semester.

Jeannette G. and Julius Kretzer Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a College of Nursing student who demonstrates high academic achievement and financial need.

JoAnn S. Broadus Endowed Scholarship in Nursing
This scholarship was established for the purpose pf providing financial assistance to a College of Nursing student who has completed the first 2 years of the Nursing curriculum. Students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and be accepted into the professional component. Students will need positive letters of reference from 2 USA faculty and provide evidence of community service.

Karen Hamilton Endowed Nursing Scholarship
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to an undergraduate student in the College of Nursing who has a minimum 3.2 GPA.

Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation Nursing Scholarship
The Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation is a charity dedicated to the support of women in nine southeastern states who demonstrate financial need. The Foundation devotes most of its resources to the Lettie Pate Whitehead scholarship program which provides scholarship grants to schools and scholarships for deserving female students. The foundation was chartered in 1946.

Mary Ahn Nursing Scholarship
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to an outstanding Nursing major.

Mary Francis Robertson and Molly Lou Jones Scholarship
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a College of Nursing student who has been admitted to an undergraduate nursing program and maintains satisfactory progress as defined by the College of Nursing and University. Students who have previously received this award shall be available eligible for following years based on the aforementioned criteria. Preference to be given to a student who demonstrates financial need.

Morgan Lee Memorial Book Endowment
This book scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to an accelerated student in the College of Nursing who is a FT student and active in BCC SNA. Students must have a minimum 3.2 GPA and demonstrate significant growth in the first-year nursing theory, clinical and skills.

Peggy Reynolds Nursing Scholarship
• Recipient must be enrolled as a full time nursing student in an undergraduate program within the College of Nursing.

• Student must have an overall 3.0 GPA to be considered for scholarship award.

• Preference for student to be from Clark, Washington, or Choctaw County, AL.

• Recipient must maintain satisfactory progress within the program as defined by the University and the specified discipline.

Philomene B. Holmes Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a full-time student in the College of Nursing with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Student must be accepted into the professional component of the nursing curriculum. Preference will be given to Baldwin County residents and/or those who intend to work in the South Baldwin County area upon completion of degree. Previously award students are eligible to reapply.

Providence Hospital Nursing Scholarship
The Providence Hospital Endowed Nursing Scholarship was established in March 2015 by Providence Hospital. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to a full-time student majoring in one of the programs within the College of Nursing. Applicants must have a minimum 3.5 GPA and maintain satisfactory progress in the program as defined by the University and the specified discipline.

This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a deserving student majoring in Nursing.

Regina Little Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a deserving student majoring in Nursing.

Sandy McGill Healthcare Scholarship
The Sandy McGill Healthcare Scholarship was established in October 2015 by the South Baldwin Healthcare Authority for the purpose of providing financial assistance to full-time graduate or undergraduate students majoring in the College of Nursing.

If student is pursuing a graduate level degree, preference shall be given to those students who agree to focus in the areas of acute care or gerontology and in the fields of Clinical Nurse Specialist, Clinical Nurse Leader, or Nursing Informatics/Nursing Administration.

Recipient must have been employed as a Registered Nurse in the area served by South Baldwin Regional Medical Center for at least two consecutive years immediately prior to receiving the scholarship.

Following graduation, the student must commit to work in the region served by South Baldwin Regional Medical Center in a nursing position for a period of time relative to the scholarship funds received. (Two years of employment commitment is required for one year of scholarship funds). Student will be responsible for signing a promissory note with USA to ensure further understanding of the employment commitment and responsibilities.

South Baldwin Health Foundation Scholarship
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a full-time student majoring in the college of Nursing with a minimum 3.5 GPA.

Recipient must commit to work in the healthcare field in south Baldwin County (south of I-10) for two years after graduation.

The Caring Nursing Foundation Scholarship
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama and The Caring Foundation give back to the community by supporting initiatives to improve the health, wellness, and education of Alabamians. The Caring Foundation (TCF) was established in 1990 by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama to serve as our corporate charitable foundation for philanthropic needs within the state. TCF is focused on improving the health and well-being of Alabamians by investing in charitable organizations across the state.

Theresa Louque Roussel Scholarship in Nursing
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a full-time College of Nursing student who has a minimum 3.0 undergraduate GPA. Applicants with an MSN must have a minimum of 3.5 GPA on all graduate work. Preference will be given to those who work in a community-based nursing setting and those who demonstrate financial need.

This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a student enrolled in RN to BSN Nursing Program and demonstrates satisfactory progress. Recipient will be eligible for following years.

USA Student Nurses Association Endowed Book Scholarship
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a student in the professional component of the USA Nursing program. Students should demonstrate strong leadership skills, community service involvement, and should be a member of the Student Nursing Association. If awarded previously, student will *not* be eligible for following years.

Valorie C. Dearmon Endowed Scholarship in Nursing
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a College of Nursing student who demonstrates high academic achievement and financial need. Recipients will be eligible for said scholarship in the following years.

William David Burden Nursing Scholarship
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a student who has been admitted to an undergraduate nursing program and maintains satisfactory progress as defined by the College of Nursing and University. Students who have previously received this award shall be eligible for following years based on the aforementioned criteria. The fact that they have been previous recipients shall in no way be considered a factor in determining eligibility.

Zeta Gamma Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau Scholarship in Nursing
Awarded to recognize outstanding scholarship by qualified nurses and nursing students. This award is available to undergraduate and graduate nursing students.

Ed Bunnell Adult Degree Program Scholarship
The Ed Bunnell Scholarship is an endowed fund that was created to recognize the contributions of Dr. Ed Bunnell, the first Dean of the School of Continuing Education and Special Programs, toward promoting adult learning and continuing education at the University of South Alabama. Dr. Bunnell had a passion for helping hard-working, bright adult students achieve their educational goals. The scholarship is awarded each fall and spring semester to an Adult Degree Program student who has demonstrated persistence and academic achievement. Students Adult Degree Program. Cumulative USA grade point average of 3.0 with a minimum of 12 semester hours completed at USA at the time of application.

Thomas Corcoran Scholarship in Interdisciplinary Studies
The Thomas Corcoran Endowed Scholarship in Interdisciplinary Studies was established to provide financial assistance to students who are classified as adult students and are attempting to obtain their first college degree. Students must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA and be registered for a minimum 1/2 course load (6 hours).

Bobbie and Steve Hancock Scholarship in Interdisciplinary Studies
The Bobbie and Steve Hancock Scholarship in Interdisciplinary Studies was established in 2013 by Bobbie Hancock. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to an undergraduate Continuing Education student majoring in Interdisciplinary Studies. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 overall GPA.

Joycelyn Franklin Finley Trailblazer Scholarship
The Joycelyn Franklin Finley Trailblazer Scholarship was established in 2014 by Dr. Joycelyn Finley-Hervey for the purpose of providing an annual scholarship to a student enrolled in the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference will be given to underserved populations.

Dr. Evelyn Kwan Green Endowed Scholarship in Hospitality and Tourism
The Dr. Evelyn Kwan Green Endowed Scholarship in Hospitality and Tourism was established in 2016 for the purpose of providing a tuition scholarship to a rising sophomore, junior or senior student majoring Hospitality and Tourism Management with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference shall be given to students who demonstrate financial need.

The Mobile Area Lodging Association Scholarship was established in 2016 for the purpose of providing a tuition scholarship to a student majoring in Hospitality and Tourism Management with a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Jim and Liz Connors Hospitality Management Scholarship
The Jim and Liz Connors Hospitality Management Scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a junior or senior student enrolled in the USA Hospitality and Tourism Management Program. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Spectrum Resorts Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2015 by Spectrum Resorts for the purpose of providing financial assistance to Hospitality and Tourism Management students with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference shall be given to students participating in the F.L.I.G.H.T. program. 

Captain George A. Manders Scholarship in Interdisciplinary Studies
This scholarship was established in March 2012 by Dr. Jeanette E. Manders for the purpose of providing an annual tuition award endowed scholarship to a deserving USA student currently enrolled in the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies. Student must have a minimum 2.0 GPA and exhibit financial need. Preference is given to a veteran of U.S. military service.

This scholarship was established by Carol and Steve Kittrell for the purpose of providing financial assistance to the most deserving "Southerner of the Year". Each November two Southerners will be nominated by their peers for this award.

USA Port City Alumni Chapter Scholarship Endowment Fund
The USA National Alumni Association Mobile County "Port City" Chapter Scholarship is awarded to an outstanding entering freshman who is a full-time resident of Mobile County, AL. Academics, activities, and leadership are considered in awarding the scholarship.

William Sirmon NAA Endowed Graduate Student Scholarship
The USA National Alumni Association - William J. Sirmon Graduate Student Scholarship is a one-time ( non-renewable ) $1,000 tuition fee waiver. Academics and leadership are considered in awarding the scholarship. The scholarship will be disbursed in two installments beginning Fall Semester. Only completed applications will be reviewed by the Alumni Scholarship Selection Committee.

USA Baldwin County Alumni Chapter Scholarship
The USA National Alumni Association - Baldwin County Chapter Scholarship is awarded to an outstanding entering freshman who is a full-time resident of Baldwin County, AL. Academics, activities, and leadership are considered in awarding the scholarship.

Children of Alumni Scholarship In-State / Out of State
The USA National Alumni Association Children of Alumni Scholarship is a one-time (non-renewable) $2,500 tuition fee award. Academics, activities, and leadership are considered in awarding the scholarship. Successful candidates must be full-time sophomores, juniors or seniors at USA, have completed at least 24 hours at USA, have a minimum 3.0 GPA and parent or guardian must be a dues-paying/ active status USA National Alumni Association member at time of scholarship application submission.

Armbrecht - Briskman Endowment Scholarship for Southerners
The Armbrecht - Briskman Endowed Scholarship for Southerners was established in November 2013 by Eugenia L. "Gigi" Armbrecht and Holle W. Briskman. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to the Southerner serving as President during each academic year. In addition to serving as President of The Southerners, the recipient must also maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher. No application is required.

National Alumni Association Board of Directors Endowed Scholarship
The National Alumni Association Board of Directors Endowed Scholarship was established in 2014 by the USA National Alumni Association Board of Directors. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to a child, step child, or dependent of an alumnus of the University of South Alabama. Successful candidates must be rising, full-time sophomores, juniors or seniors at USA with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA. Candidates must have completed 24 semester hours at USA. Parent or guardian must be a dues-paying/active status USA National Alumni Association member at time of application submission. Academics, activities, and leadership are considered in awarding this scholarship.

Students Today, Alumni Tomorrow Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2014 by Students Today, Alumni Tomorrow (STAT) student organization. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide an annual tuition scholarship to a non-senior undergraduate full time student enrolled at the University of South Alabama. Students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, be an active member of the STAT organization, and display community and club involvement.

Allen J. Pearl USA NAA Book Scholarship
The Allen J. Pearl USA NAA Book Scholarship was designed to recognize a student who has achieved success in extracurricular as well as academic endeavors at the University of South Alabama. Academics, activities, and leadership are considered in awarding the scholarships, as well as financial need. Successful candidates must be full-time sophomores, juniors, or seniors enrolled at the University of South Alabama with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA. Candidates must have completed a minimum 36 semester hours at USA.

Patrick and Mary Hicks USA National Alumni Association Book Scholarship
The Patrick E. and Mary F. Hicks USA NAA Book Scholarship was designed to recognize a student who has achieved success in extracurricular as well as academic endeavors at the University of South Alabama. Academics, activities, and leadership are considered in awarding the scholarships, as well as financial need. Successful candidates must be full-time sophomores, juniors, or seniors enrolled at the University of South Alabama with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA. Candidates must have completed a minimum 36 semester hours at USA.

Madge and Gladys Outlaw Freshman Leadership Scholarship
The Madge and Gladys Outlaw Freshman Scholarship is awarded to outstanding entering freshmen at USA. Academics, activities, and leadership are considered in awarding the scholarships. The $2,500 one-year (non-renewable) scholarships are tuition-fee waivers. Candidates must have a minimum of a 23 ACT/SAT Score and a 3.0 cumulative grade point in ordered to be considered for the scholarships. Semester disbursement is based upon the individual being enrolled as a full-time student at USA, actively participating in University activities and maintaining a 3.0 cumulative GPA. If the student does not meet these standards, he or she will be requested to appear before the Alumni Scholarship Selection Committee. Only completed applications will be reviewed by the Alumni Scholarship Selection Committee. Recipient will be notified prior to April 30th.

Victor Gaston Book Scholarship
This award, which provides an annual Book scholarship to the President of SGA, was created in honor of State Representative Victor Gaston. Representative Gaston is a Mobile native and received his Master of Arts from USA. He has been a member of the Alabama House of Representatives since 1982 and is the current House Speaker Pro Tempore.

Delchamps Scholarship
This scholarship was established in memory of Mr. Alfred Delchamps by his family.

Alexis Atkins Interdisciplinary Studies Scholarship
This scholarship was established by Katherine Alexis Atkins as the Alexis Atkins Interdisciplinary Studies Scholarship endowment due to her personal connection to the School of Continuing Education and Special Programs. Student must declare major in Interdisciplinary Studies, have a minimum 23 ACT, a minimum 3.0 GPA, and show academic achievement.

Children of Employees Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established to provide scholarship funding for full-time undergraduate students who are unmarried dependents of employees who are eligible for the University's Educational Benefit plan as outlined in Section 9.4 of the Staff Employee handbook.

USA Excellence Scholarship
This scholarship was established to provide financial assistance to deserving students who demonstrate high academic achievement.

William C. Gorgas Trust Fund
This scholarship was established by William Crawford Gorgas Chapter, American War Mothers, a non-profit organization chartered by U.S. government to award an annual grant to a veteran of the Armed Forces of the United States of America, or deserving son or daughter of a war veteran, who is in financial need and meets the scholarship requirements of the scholarship committee.

Anna Christ Reynolds Medical Scholarship, American Legion Auxiliary
This scholarship was established in 1985 and is open to students who are children and grandchildren of Veterans who served during World Wars I and II, Korean and Vietnam Conflicts, and have an Honorable Discharge from Service. Students must be residents of Alabama.

Donna Ayers Scholarship in Elementary Education
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to an incoming freshman in elementary Education. This award is automatically renewed for four years providing the student remains in good academic standing.

Mildred Coleman Starnes Nursing Scholarship
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to an outstanding student entering the College of Nursing from Grove Hill, Clarke County, or Alabama. Student must be pursuing a bachelor of science degree or higher. Student must major in Nursing, have a minimum 19 ACT and 3.0 GPA. Junior college transfer students must have a minimum 2.5 GPA. The recipient must be enrolled as a full-time student each semester ( 15 hours) and maintain a 3.0 GPA for the award to be renewed. This award replaces any USA scholarship previously awarded.

Helen M. Nelson Charitable Trust Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2004 by Helen M. Nelson the Trustee of the Helen M. Nelson Charitable Trust, Michael D Langan, for deserving and needy students who are incoming freshman.

Wells Fargo Endowed Scholarship Fund
This scholarship was established by Wachovia to provide an annual scholarship to be awarded to a deserving student of USA with a 3.0 of higher GPA, demonstrating financial need and from underrepresented groups.

Timothy K. Driggers Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2012 by Timothy K. Driggers to provide for the funding of an annual undergraduate award used toward tuition and/or fees of an incoming freshman student from Elba High School (Elba, Alabama). Student must have a minimum 23 ACT and at least a 3.0 GPA. Preference will be given to Accounting majors, then Business majors, and then any major. In the event that no student(s) from Elba High School apply or meet the above criteria, students from any high school in Coffee County who meet the other criteria will be considered.

Mobile County Foundation for Public Higher Education Scholarship for Excellence
This scholarship was established in 2006 to recognize outstanding student academic achievement by awarding a scholarship to a student in each of USA's existing nine colleges and schools who are from Mobile County, Alabama. Students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. This scholarship is renewable for up to four years.

Tim and Sandy Schultz Russell Endowed Scholarship Fund
This scholarship was established by Mr. and Mrs. Tim Russell to be awarded to a graduating senior from Foley High School entering as a freshman at USA demonstrating high academic achievement.

William D. and Irene Russell Ward Endowed Scholarship Fund
This scholarship was established by Mr. Tim Russell with the purpose to provide funding for an annual tuition award to a graduating senior from Robertsdale High School entering as a freshman at USA with high academic achievement.

Ekman Endowed Scholarship 
This scholarship was established by Christopher L. and Jennifer Z. Ekman for the purpose of providing financial assistance to incoming freshmen with an above average GPA. Preference given to a student who exhibits evidence of financial need as established through the Office of Financial Aid. 

Hinson International Student Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established by Robert and Brenda Hinson for the purpose of providing financial assistance to an undergraduate international student who demonstrates high academic achievement and has completed two semesters at USA.

Lee and David Stearns Children of Employees Endowed Scholarship Fund
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to full-time undergraduate students who are unmarried dependents of employees and are eligible for the University's Educational Benefit Plan as outlines in Section 9.4 of the Staff Employee Handbook.

Margie Malon Tuckson LeFlore High School Endowed Scholarship Fund
This scholarship was established by Margie Malone Tuckson, who was a 1973 Mitchell College of Business Graduate, for the purpose of providing tuition funding to a full-time incoming freshman student who graduated from LeFlore High School. Student must demonstrate high academic achievement and community service involvement.

Margie Malon Tuckson Murphy High School Endowed Scholarship Fund
This scholarship was established by Margie Malone Tuckson, who was a 1973 Mitchell College of Business graduate, to provide tuition funding to a full time incoming freshman student who graduated from Murphy High School. Student must demonstrate high academic achievement and community service involvement.

The Rotary Club of Mobile Sunrise Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established by the Rotary Club of Mobile-Sunrise to provide funding for an annual tuition endowed scholarship to an incoming freshman who resides in one of the counties with the Rotary International District 6880 and have participated in at least one of the following Rotary sponsored programs: member of Rotary Interact Club and/or participant in the Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) program.

USA Board of Trustees Endowed Scholarship
The USA Board of Trustees Endowed Scholarship, developed on behalf of the USA Board of Trustees, was designed to provide funding to exceptionally qualified and highly motivated incoming USA freshman scholars. One award is given each year to the incoming Freshman candidate with the highest ACT/SAT composite score and GPA combination (based on a 4.0 scale). This scholarship will be used to fund annual tuition, and is renewable for the first four years of the student's undergraduate study - provided the student maintains the minimum requirements. This scholarship will serve as a supplement to any other scholarship awarded in order to give further distinction to the USA Board of Trustees Scholar program.

All State Academic Team Year 1: In-State and Out-of-State
This scholarship was established to provide financial assistance to All-State CC Academic Team members who have a minimum 3.75 GPA at least 48 earned hours from their two-year institution. In-state students receive $1,000 per year for up to two years and out-of-state students receive $2,000 per year for up to two years.

Bay Area Scholarship
Students should have a minimum ACT Composite score of 21-22 (or comparable SAT), minimum high school grade-point average of 3.0 as computed by the USA Office of Admissions, and reside in Mobile or Baldwin counties in Alabama or one of the service area counties in Mississippi or Florida. Entering freshmen only.

Community College Transfer Scholarship: In-State
The award is based on the cumulative GPA earned at the two year institution as computed by the USA Office of Admissions. Candidates should be accepted for admission by May 1. Awards are made in mid-summer. Students may only receive either the Phi Theta Kappa transfer scholarship or the Community College transfer scholarship.

Community College Transfer Scholarship: Out-of-State
Students must have completed at least 48 hours of coursework and have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher earned at the two year institution as computed by the USA Office of Admissions. Students must submit the Transfer Scholarship Application to be considered. Candidates should be accepted for admission by May 1. Awards are made in mid-summer. Students may only receive either the Phi Theta Kappa transfer scholarship or the Community College transfer scholarship.

Distinguished Young Women Scholarship
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to any state winner with an ACT score of 30 or higher and top high school academics.

Louise and Robert Locke Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 1994 for students from Choctaw County, Alabama who are graduating seniors from either Choctaw County High School, Patrician Academy, South Choctaw Academy, or Southern Choctaw High School. Student must demonstrate high academic achievement.

Phi Theta Kappa Transfer Scholarship: Out-of-State
The Phi Theta Kappa Transfer Scholarship was established to provide financial assistance to members of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society transferring to USA in the fall semester. Students must have completed at least 48 hours of coursework and have a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA earned at their two year institution as computed by the USA Office of Admissions.
As a part of the JagSPOT application, the student's Phi Theta Kappa advisor must provide a letter of recommendation and verification of membership.
Students must be accepted for admission and submit the Enrollment Services Transfer Scholarship Application by June 15th to be considered. Awards are made in mid-summer.

Phi Theta Kappa Transfer Scholarship: In-State
The Phi Theta Kappa Transfer Scholarship was established to provide financial assistance to members of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society transferring to USA in the fall semester. Students must have completed at least 48 hours of coursework and have a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA earned at their two year institution as computed by the USA Office of Admissions.

Pat Piercy Scholarship
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to full time sophomore, junior or senior students majoring in the maths, engineering, physics, chemistry, biology, zoology, botany or geology field. Student must have a minimum 2.8 GPA, be a U.S. citizen, and a permanent resident is one of the following Alabama counties: Baldwin, Choctaw, Clarke, Conecuh, Escambia, Mobile, Monroe or Washington.

Leroy Hill Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was established by Mrs. Deborah D. Hill as a gift used to fund a $1,000 annual scholarship known as the Leroy Hill Memorial Scholarship for incoming freshman from Mobile or Baldwin County who plans to major in Business Studies in the Mitchell College of Business.

Presidential Scholarship
All 2016 high school graduates who have been admitted as a first time freshman for the fall 2016 term and meet the Presidential Scholarship requirements, funded by the Mitchell - Moulton Scholarship Initiative, by December 1st will be guaranteed a scholarship award. Incoming freshmen are automatically considered for scholarship upon admission to the University. NO SEPARATE APPLICATION REQUIRED.

Barry Brunson Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to incoming freshman who graduated from Coffee or Crenshaw County High School.

Cimino Co-op Scholarship
This scholarship is named after Edward Cimino, the first Director of the USA Career Services office who was instrumental in opening the office and developing the cooperative education program. This scholarship supports students who are involved in a co-op or internship program.

Joseph W. Thomas Scholarship
This scholarship was established by Mrs. Cora Compton Thomas for the purpose of providing financial assistance to incoming freshmen students who graduated from Spanish Fort High School with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Student must major in Business, Finance, Political Science, or another STEM-related program. Student must also demonstrate leadership and service abilities in high school including school and extracurricular activities in civic, religious and service work. Must submit a letter of recommendation from Spanish Fort HS as well as resume reflecting demonstrated leadership and service activities. Mr. Joseph W. Thomas was a significant supporter of Spanish Fort High School.

Michael and Michele Mayberry - Order of the Arrow Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established by Michael Mayberry as an "Order of the Arrow Endowed Scholarship" for the purpose of funding an annual partial scholarship for a full-time student in the Boy Scout's Order of the Arrow Honorary Society.

BBVA Compass Undergraduate Scholarship
This Scholarship was established by BBVA Compass to provide funding of an annual tuition endowed scholarship with preference given to BBVA Compass employees or family members of employees, for freshman or sophomore students with high academic achievement.

Kelly Estle Endowed Scholarship in Social Work Fund
This scholarship was established by G. David Johnson and Cecelia Murphy to provide funding of an annual endowed scholarship to students who meet the Presidential Scholarship criteria. Scholarship funds will be used to support Presidential Scholarships for qualifying students.

Jim and Dianne Moore Endowed Scholarship in Engineering Fund
This scholarship is funded by James Edward Moore and Laura Dianne Moore and was created to provide funding of an annual endowed scholarship to students from South East Louisiana who meet the Presidential Scholarship criteria.

BBVA Compass Endowed Scholarship in the Mitchell College of Business

John Counts Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was established by the UMS Class of 1963 in memory of their classmate, John Counts, a graduate of the UMS Class of 1963 and USA's Mitchell College of Business, to provide funding of an annual endowed scholarship to students who meet the Presidential Scholarship criteria. This scholarship is to honor John's memory, his lifelong love of learning, his commitment to education and his love of the University of South Alabama. Scholarship funds will be used to support Presidential Scholarships for qualifying students.

Dan and Judy Grafton Scholarship
This scholarship was established by Dan and Judy Grafton to provide funding of an annual endowed scholarship to students who meet the Presidential Scholarship criteria. Scholarship funds will be used to support Presidential Scholarships for qualifying students.

John C. Sipple Endowed Undergraduate Scholarship
This scholarship was established by John C. Sipple to fund an annual tuition scholarship to an entering freshman. Scholarship funds will be used to support Presidential Scholarships for qualifying students.

Awarded annually to a student (age 22 or older with a J-IVISA) from the Kosice, Slovakia area. Based on academics, references, and leadership skills.

Marshall J. Walton Memorial Endowed Scholarship
The Marshall J. Walton Memorial Endowed Scholarship was established in 2015 for the purpose of providing a scholarship to a deserving and driven incoming freshman who are top seniors at St. Paul's Episcopal School. A top senior from a Mobile County High School may be selected if there are no eligible senior graduates from St. Paul's Episcopal School. Students should have a minimum 3.0 high school GPA and a minimum 23 ACT/SAT converted.

PNC Bank Scholarship
This scholarship is funded by PNC Bank, National Association, for an incoming Freshman student who meets the criteria for the Presidential Scholarship and comes from a low to moderate income background. Scholarship funds will be used to support Presidential Scholarships for qualifying students.

Joseph and Kathleen Denton Endowed Scholarship
Joseph and Kathleen Denton have established this scholarship in appreciation for the quality education Joesph received as a student. This scholarship will allow students to attend college who may need additional financial assistance.

USA Merit Scholarship
The USA Merit Scholarship is awarded to students who are National Merit Finalists through the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC). Finalists who have been admitted to USA and have informed NMSC by the published deadlines that USA is their first choice will be considered. This award is $2,000/year, renewable for up to four years of undergraduate study - provided the student maintains the minimum requirements.

Faculty and Staff Leadership Scholarship
This scholarship is provided by the USA Foundation.

Brannan Scholarship
This scholarship was established for a graduate of a Baldwin County High School with a satisfactory academic background in order to insure the completion of the student's educational goal.

Crampton Harris Trust Pre-Med Scholarship
This scholarship was established by the family of Dr. Crampton Harris, a former USA Foundation Board member who died in January 2009. Students should be in the Pre-Medicine Pre-Professional Program to be considered for this scholarship.

J. L. Bedsole Foundation Scholarship
This scholarship was established by the J.L. Bedsole Foundation who will select qualifying candidates to participate in the J.L. Bedsole Foundation Scholars Program. Their candidates will be high school graduates from Southwest Alabama with leadership ability, academic commitment and financial need to attend the Alabama College of their choice in pursuit of a Baccalaureate degree.

Ethel W. Kroker Scholarship
Established and left by the estate of Ethel W. Kroker for the purpose of scholarship payments for the benefit of needy and deserving college students in manner and amount that the Institution deems most prudent and desirable. Expresses a wish that any blood child or blood grandchild of brothers and sisters of Ethel Kroker be given first consideration.

W. C. Blackburn Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is provided by the USA Foundation.

USA Medical Center Auxiliary Children of Employee Scholarship
The USA Medical Center Auxiliary Children of Employee Scholarship was established to provide financial assistance to dependent of an employee (as defined in the personnel handbook) employed at the USA Medical Center. Applicants must be full-time students with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference shall be given to students who show proven financial need.

Whiddon Honors Scholarship
The University of South Alabama Honors Program offers a curriculum of interdisciplinary excellence designed to stimulate analytical and critical thinking of exceptionally qualified and highly motivated students. In this effort, the USA Honors Program challenges students with scholarly activities, creative activities, exposes them to cultural enrichment and requires them to engage in community service. Students admitted to the USA Honors Program may receive a four-year honors scholarship.

Jaguar Marching Band Leadership Scholarship
This scholarship is based on the recommendation of the Director of Athletic Bands and the Chair of the Department of Music and is not renewable. All section leaders must re-apply for consideration at the conclusion of each marching season. Students must take a minimum of 12 credit hours, satisfactorily make progress toward their degree and maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.0.

Jaguar Marching Band Scholarship
All members of the Jaguar Marching Band receive a scholarship. These awards are allotted to students based on talent and need. Scholarship awards also vary based on audition, instrumentation needs, leadership responsibilities, and other applicable factors. Scholarships are renewable provided the recipient maintains a minimum course load of 12 credit hours and participates satisfactorily in the area for which the scholarship is awarded. Students must also maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or better.

Pep Band Scholarship
All members of the Jaguar Pep Band receive a $1,000 scholarship during the spring semester. The Jaguar Pep Band is open by audition to members of the Jaguar Marching Band and is selected during the fall semester. Up to 80 students will be selected.

Grant Miller Davis Marketing Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2003 for the purpose of providing financial support to a senior marketing major in the Mitchell College of Business who demonstrates high academic achievement and has a minimum 3.0 GPA. This scholarship was possible by memorial gifts made in honor of Dr. Davis, a distinguished member of the faculty and long-term Chair of the Department of Marketing and Transportation.

Donald L. Moak Endowed Banking Scholarship 
This scholarship was established in 2007 for the purpose of providing financial support to students majoring in Economics and Finance and plans to pursue a career in commercial banking. Preference is given to students who are taking or have taken commercial banking courses (Fin 470 and/or Fin 471). Added considerations are GPA, those who worked for a depository institution, and/or a Mississippi resident. This scholarship was made possible by donations from Mr. J. Matthew Mayo.

Dr. Paul Pietri Endowment Scholarship in Management
This scholarship was established in 2005 for the purpose of providing financial support to a student in the Mitchell College of Business majoring in Management with a minimum 3.0 GPA and who has completed a minimum of two years of study. This scholarship was made possible by donations from Mr. John Robert "Jack" Donovan, Jr.

This scholarship was established in 2005 for the purpose of providing financial support to a student in the Mitchell College of Business majoring in Management with a minimum 3.0 GPA and who has completed a minimum of two years of study. This scholarship was made possible by donations from Mr. John Robert "Jack" Donovan, Jr.

Thomas Corcoran Scholarship in Interdisciplinary SAP for MCOB
This scholarship was established to provide financial assistance to an adult minority student obtaining a degree from the Mitchell College of Business. Student must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and be registered for a minimum A1/2 course load.

Helen and Robert Sellers Scholarship in Business
This scholarship was established in 2006, in honor of Helen and Robert Sellers, with the purpose of providing financial support to a student majoring in the Mitchell College of Business.

Jack R. Brunson Memorial Scholarship for Excellence
This scholarship was established in 2006 for the purpose of providing financial support to a student of non-traditional age who wishes to return to college to complete his/her degree. Student must be in good academic standing with a sufficient grade point average to qualify for the appropriate year of study( Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, or Senior). Preferences will be given to students who demonstrate financial need. A student previously awarded this scholarship shall be eligible in the following years. This scholarship was made possible by donations from the Jack R. Brunson Family.

Michael C. and Patsy B. Dow Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2007 for the purpose of providing financial support to a deserving student in the Mitchell College of Business. Jack and Pat Gosa Endowed Scholarship in Business
This scholarship was established in 2007 for the purpose of providing financial support to a student who exhibits skills that classify his/her as an above average student with significant ambition. Student must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, be entering Junior level of study or higher and demonstrate financial need. Student should also exhibit leadership ability, and possess good work ethic, drive, energy, self motivation, and be career oriented/driven. A letter of recommendation from a USA faculty member ( or other faculty member is he/she is a transfer student) should be submitted with application. In the event that two or more students are equally qualified, selection should be based on that student who has the greatest financial need. A student previously awarded this scholarship shall be eligible in the following years. This scholarship was made possible by donations from Jack and Pat Gosa.

Carl & Jewel Melton Endowed Entrepreneurship Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2007 for the purpose of providing financial support to a student in the Mitchell College of Business studying Entrepreneurship with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference to residents of Alabama with demonstrated financial need and to applicants with favorable letters of recommendation from faculty or community leaders describing leadership skills, high ethics, and the ability to work well with others. This scholarship was made possible by donations from Christopher Melton.

Don and Sandra McCrory Book Award
This scholarship was established in 2007 for the purpose of providing financial support to a student entering Junior or Senior level of study and has declared major in the Mitchell College of Business. A student previously awarded this scholarship shall be ineligible in the following years. This scholarship was made possible by donations from Don and Sandra McCrory.

Donald C. Mosley, Sr. Endowed Scholarship in Business
This scholarship was established in 2007 for the purpose of providing financial support to a deserving student who has declared a major in the Mitchell College of Business. A student previously awarded this scholarship shall be ineligible in the following years.

William H. Stimpson Premier Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2008 for the purpose of providing financial support to an entering full-time Sophomore student majoring in the Mitchell College of Business. Student must have a minimum 2.5 GPA and must be a resident of Alabama. Eligible students must provide a letter of nomination from an MCOB faculty member and at least one additional letter of reference from a non-relative. Letters should describe the student's strong leadership ability, positive attitude, outgoing personality, good judgment and sound moral character. Preference given to a student enrolled in the University's ROTC program. Student must also provide evidence of the following from their high school career: leadership roles in school, church, and/or community organization preference shall be given to a letter winner in a varsity sport.

Hollis and Carmel Shumock Endowed Scholarship Fund in Business
This scholarship was established in 2008 for the purpose of providing financial support to a deserving full-time sophomore student pursuing a degree in the Mitchell College of Business. Student must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. This scholarship was made possible by donations from James H. Shumock.

Peggy and John Seibert Family Scholarship 
This scholarship, made possible by the Peggy and John Seibert family, is merit based and requires a minimum GPA of 3.25, for most recent year completed. Students should be a rising Sophomore or higher level in MCOB. Other criteria that to be considered: work ethic, entrepreneurial qualities, service involvement, and demonstrated leadership abilities. Preference will be given to a former member of the Boys and Girls Club of South Alabama in Mobile, Al.

Allen, Allen & Foster, CPA's Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2012 for the purpose of providing financial support to an accounting graduate student in the Mitchell College of Business MAcc program. Student must have a minimum 3.5 GPA and be a resident of Alabama. In the event no Accounting graduate student meets the minimum qualifications for the scholarship, the award may be redirected to an undergraduate student who is a Junior or Senior Accounting major with a 3.5 GPA or above and a resident of Alabama. This scholarship was made possible by donations from Mr. R. Mark Foster.

Mark Weaver Entrepreneurial Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2012 for the purpose of providing financial support to a student in the Mitchell College of Business majoring in Entrepreneurship with a minimum 2.75 GPA. Student must display an expressed interest in entrepreneurship. Evidence could include: started a small company in high school, worked with a family business, is working on a new business idea, enrolled in Entrepreneurship courses. Evaluation of performance in Entrepreneurship courses(quality of projects and consulting reports). This scholarship was made possible by donations from Dr. Mark Weaver.

Clarence M. Frenkel, Jr. Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2012 for the purpose of providing financial support to a full-time student(s) entering Sophomore, Junior, or Senior level of study in the Mitchell College of Business with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference is given to students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement and are not currently recipients of any other scholarship within the Mitchell College of Business. This scholarship was made possible by donations from Mr. Clarence Frenkel, Jr.

Warren H. Nicholson Endowed Entrepreneurship Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2013 for the purpose of providing financial support to a Mitchell College of Business student who has a declared concentration in Entrepreneurship. A student previously awarded this scholarship shall be eligible in the following years. This scholarship was made possible by donations from Warren H. Nicholson.

Frank R. Urbancic Scholarship in Accounting
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial support to a deserving full-time undergraduate student majoring in Accounting with a minimum 3.0 GPA and must work at least part time. Student must have at least one year of school remaining. This scholarship was made possible by donations from Frank R. Urbancic.

Robert and Joseph Hunsader Memorial Scholarship in Economics and Finance
This scholarship was established in 2013 for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a full-time student majoring in Economics and Finance with a minimum 3.0 GPA and taking at least 12 credit hours per semester. Preference will be given to those working full or part-time. This scholarship was made possible by the donations from Mrs. Joyce Hunsader and her son, Dr. Kenneth Hunsader. They established this scholarship in memory of Joyce's husband, Robert, and son, Joseph. Robert passed away from cancer in 2000 and Joseph died suddenly from a heart attack in 2013. Robert and Joseph, both farmers, were influential and supportive of Kenneth earning his doctoral degree, and both were always willing to give up their own time to lend a hand to those in need. This scholarship is to honor their memory and continue their legacy of helping others.

Accounting Department Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2012 for the purpose of providing financial support to students majoring in Accounting.

Hardin - Eaves Endowed Accounting Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2008 for the purpose of providing financial support to a Junior or Senior Accounting major with an overall and major GPA between 3.0 and 3.5. This scholarship was made possible by donations from Dr. Russell Hardin.

Alton R. III and Toni G. Brown Endowed Fund in Real Estate
This scholarship was established in 2008 for the purpose of providing financial support to students in the Mitchell College of Business majoring in Real Estate with Real Estate as a career objective. They must have a minimum overall 2.75 GPA and have completed at least one Real Estate course. This scholarship was made possible by donations from Alton R. III and Toni G. Brown.

Parker Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2007 for the purpose of providing financial support to Mitchell College of Business students majoring in Accounting. Scholarship is to be awarded annually to an accounting major with a GPA of 3.00 or above calculated on a 4.0 scale. Student must demonstrate leadership ability in the form of community service or be actively involved in the Accounting Club or Beta Alpha Psi or the equivalent. The student should be classified as a junior, senior or a graduate level student. The student selected must not already have a full scholarship. This scholarship was made possible by donations from Paula Diane Parker in honor of Mr. Wallace Freeman Parker.

Department of Management Faculty Development Scholarship
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial support to students majoring in Management in the Mitchell College of Business.

Regions Bank Endowed Undergraduate Scholars Program Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2010 for the purpose of providing financial support to a sophomore, junior or senior who is registered full-time with the Mitchell College of Business. Student must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference shall be given to a student who has demonstrated leadership skills and/or evidence of University and/or civic involvement. This scholarship was made possible by Regions Bank.

MSHRM Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2010 by the Mobile Society for Human Resource Management for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a full-time Junior or Senior student majoring in Human Resources. Students must have a minimum 3.0 Overall GPA and a minimum 3.0 GPA in human resource classes.

Sue and Sid Magnes Scholarship 
This scholarship was established to provide financial assistance to incoming freshman majoring in the Mitchell College of Business. This scholarship is for the freshman year only, in the amount of $2,000, and recipient(s) must be enrolled as a full-time student each semester (fall and spring) to receive the scholarship. Students must be a resident of Mobile County, Alabama with a minimum 20 ACT and minimum 3.0 GPA.

Mostellar & Shreve, LLP Endowed Scholarship in Accounting
The Mostellar & Shreve, LLP Scholarship in Accounting was established in February 2014 by Mostellar & Shreve, LLP. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to a rising senior student in the Mitchell College of Business Accounting Program. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and a minimum 23 ACT. Preference shall be given to students from Mobile or Baldwin Counties in Alabama. Preference shall also be given to working students, i.e. full-time, part-time, summer employment.

Mitchell Scholars Program in the College of Business
This scholarship program was established in 1999, offering an extraordinary opportunity to Alabama students wishing to pursue a degree through the Mitchell College of Business.
The Mitchell Scholars Program allows elite business students to develop to their full potential. Through faculty mentorship and a four-year $50,000 scholarship, that includes a laptop computer, scholars will pursue challenging programs while developing stewardship and civic responsibility. Mitchell Scholars have the opportunity to participate in faculty research projects, culminating in an honors research thesis and creation of a peer-reviewed publication or creative work. Scholar students will be given priority registration so they can maintain progress to their goals.

Douglas L. Whitmore Finance Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established by Douglas Whitmore in 2014 for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a full-time student within the Finance Department of the Mitchell College of Business that is focusing on stocks and investments as a future career. Students must be a junior or senior with a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Mehul Parikh Memorial Scholarship for MBA Students
This scholarship was established in memory of Mehul Parikh by his family for the purpose of providing financial assistance to an international student enrolled in the MBA program within the Mitchell College of Business.

Rick and Julie Harvey Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established by Richard "Rick" and Julie Harvey in 2013 for the purpose of providing financial assistance to student majoring in the Mitchell College of Business with a minimum 3.0 GPA and a minimum 23 ACT. Preference will be given to a student from Mobile County, Alabama.

Luther E. Clements Scholarship in Accounting
The Luther E. Clements Scholarship in Accounting was established in June 2014 by Stephen Clements. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to an undergraduate students majoring in Accounting within the Mitchell College of Business. Preference given to students who graduated from a high school in Mobile or Washington Counties in Alabama.

Russell, Thompson, Butler & Houston, LLP Scholarship in Accounting
The Russell, Thompson, Butler, & Houston, LLP Scholarship in Accounting was established in May 2015 by Russell, Thompson, Butler & Houston, LLP. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to undergraduate students majoring in Accounting within the Mitchell College of Business.

Brian L. McGuire Endowed Scholarship in Accounting
The Brian L. McGuire Scholarship in Accounting was established in May 2014 by Dr. Brian L. McGuire. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to a full-time student majoring in Accounting within the Mitchell College of Business. Applicants must be Junior or Senior level students with a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Chris G. Chavez Undergraduate Scholarship in Accounting
The Chris G. Chavez Undergraduate Scholarship in Accounting was established in December 2013 by Sean and Jessica Price. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to students with a declared major in Accounting within the Mitchell College of Business. Applicants should have a minimum 3.0 GPA and be over the age of 25. Preference shall be given to students who demonstrate a financial need.

Lang Family Endowment
The Lang Family Endowed Book Award was established in April 2011 for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a deserving junior or senior level student majoring in Accounting within the USA Mitchell College of Business. Applicants must have a minimum 2.5 GPA. Preference shall be given to the first generation college students.

Alabama Young Bankers Association Scholarship
The Alabama Young Bankers Association Scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to deserving students majoring in Finance or Commercial Banking within the USA Mitchell College of Business.

Winthrop M. Hallett, III Free Enterprise Scholarship
The Winthrop M. Hallett, III Free Enterprise Scholarship Endowment was established in September 2013 by the Mobile Area of Commerce Foundation Inc. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to freshman level students within the USA Mitchell College of Business. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 High School GPA and a minimum 23 ACT/SAT equivalent. Preference shall be given to those with an entrepreneurship concentration.

The Turner Supply Endowed Book Scholarship in Business was established in September 2007 for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a deserving full-time student pursuing a degree within the USA Mitchell College of Business.

The College of Business Endowed Scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to deserving full-time students majoring in the USA Mitchell College of Business. Applicants must be entering sophomore, junior, or senior level of study with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference shall be given to students who are not currently recipients of any other scholarship within the MCOB.

Terry S. Barkin Memorial Shoe Station Endowed Scholarship in Business
The Terry S. Barkin Memorial Shoe Station Endowed Scholarship in Business was established in September 2007 for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a deserving full-time junior or senior level student majoring in the USA Mitchell College of Business. Applicants should have a minimum 3.0 GPA and be a resident of Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, Georgia, or Louisiana.

Aloyis Sonneborn Endowed Scholarship
The Aloyis Sonneborn Endowed Scholarship was established in May 2007 for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a deserving student studying Real Estate within the USA Mitchell College of Business. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference shall be given to applicants with a favorable letter of recommendation from a member of the MCOB faculty. Preference shall also be given to applicants who have declared Real Estate as a major, plan to pursue Real Estate as a career, and has completed at least one Real Estate course.

The White - Spunner & Associates Inc. Endowed Scholarship in Real Estate was established in 2007 for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a deserving full-time sophomore, junior, or senior level student majoring in Real Estate within the USA Mitchell College of Business. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Dr. Carl C. Moore Scholarship in the Mitchell College of Business
In 2014, Dr. C. Moore established this scholarship, upon his retirement as the Dean of the Mitchell College of Business, in an effort to give back to the College he had been with since 1971. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide an annual scholarship to a Mitchell College of Business student who has completed at least 80 or more hours with at least 30 hours completed at USA. Student must have a minimum 3.0 overall GPA. Preference shall be given to students from Mobile or Baldwin County, Alabama and who do not currently hold another scholarship.

Pfilip and Luella Hunt Endowed Scholarship in Business
The Pfilip and Luella Hunt Endowed Scholarship in Business was established in August 2011 for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a deserving junior or senior level undergraduate student or to a MBA student. Undergraduate applicants must be majoring in Finance or Entrepreneurship. All applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and be a U.S Citizen or Permanent Resident. Applicants should display involvement in community, campus organizations, or maintain a job.

Putcha Family Outstanding Accounting Student Award
The Putcha Family Outstanding Accounting Student Award was established in December 2011 for the purpose of providing an award to a senior level Accounting major within the Mitchell College of Business. Student must have a minimum 3.5 GPA and display involvement within USA.

Laura and Wayne Davis Accounting Scholarship
The Laura and Wayne Davis Accounting Scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a deserving junior or senior level students majoring in Accounting within the USA Mitchell College of Business. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Jack Donovan Endowed Graduate Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2005 for the purpose of providing financial support to a graduate level student in the Mitchell College of Business majoring in Management with a minimum 2.7 GPA and who has completed a minimum of two years of study. SCIS Advisory Board Endowed Scholarship Fund
Funds to support this scholarship were given by local business representatives to support an incoming freshman to the School of Computing. Students need to have a composite score of 22 or higher on their ACT and a high school GPA of 3.0 or higher to qualify for this scholarship. All SoC endowed scholarships are subject to available funding.

Association of Computing Machinery Scholarship
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a student majoring in the School of Computing who demonstrates high academic achievement and service.

Feinstein Scholarship in CIS
The Feinstein's have sponsored this scholarship for an incoming freshman in the School of Computing. Qualified students must have a high school GPA of 3.0 or higher, a composite ACT score of 28 or higher, and a teacher's letter of recommendation. Denny & Marianne Wilkins School of CIS Sciences Award
This scholarship was established in 2006 for the purpose of providing financial assistance to incoming freshmen in the School of Computer and Information Sciences. Les and Alleen Barnett Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2006 for the purpose of providing financial assistance to an incoming freshman in the School of Computing. Students must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher to apply for this scholarship. Preference will be given to residents of Mobile County and residents of Alabama. Preference will also be given to students who minor in business or pursue the concentration of health informatics. This scholarship was made possible by Les and Alleen Barnett. This scholarship was established in 2007 for the purpose of providing financial assistance to one student from each undergraduate classification within the School of Computing. Students must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher to be considered for this award. Preference will be given to students with two letters of recommendation from faculty members. This scholarship was made possible by Neil and Laura Henderson. All SoC endowed scholarships are subject to available funding.

Roy J. Daigle and Kathryn A. Gradle Scholarship in Information Systems
This scholarship was established in 2008 for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a sophomore, junior, or senior Information Systems major with a composite ACT of 28 or higher and a high school and college GPA of 3.0 or higher. This scholarship was made possible by Dr. Roy J. Daigle.

SoC Scholarships
The School of Computing awards scholarships in amounts ranging up to $5,000 to students entering the School as first time freshmen or transfers. Each year over $50,000 in School scholarships are awarded.

Cisco and Venture Technologies Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2013 for the purpose of providing financial assistance to an incoming freshman or current undergraduate student majoring in the School of Computing. Incoming freshmen students should have a minimum 23 ACT and a minimum 3.0 GPA. A current student should have a minimum 3.0 GPA. This scholarship was made possible by Cisco and Venture Technologies.

Rajani Ranade Endowed Scholarship for Academic Excellence
This scholarship was established in 2010 for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a student who has completed a degree and seeks to obtain a graduate degree in the School of Computer and Information Sciences. Students must have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher in undergraduate courses and must obtain one letter of reference from a faculty member in the School of Computer and Information Services. This scholarship was made possible by Tarun Singh and Yogesh Ranade.

The Dr. Matt and Amy Campbell Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2014 for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a student in the School of Computing who qualifies for the Mitchell-Moulton award as determined by the University. Student must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and demonstrate financial need. Preference will be given to a student with no other scholarship support. Preference will also be given to a student majoring in Information Systems or Health Informatics and to a student who has demonstrated leadership through community service. Applicants are required to express an interest in conducting undergraduate research. Preference will be given to those interested in conducting research in either serious gaming or health informatics. Students who have previously been awarded this scholarship shall be eligible in the following years. Dr. Matt and Amy Campbell established this scholarship in honor of Matt's father, Stephen A. Campbell. The high value his father placed on education inspired Matt to pursue his PhD. and established a successful career in academia. In establishing this scholarship, Matt and Amy wish to support a student who exemplifies Stephen's commitment to academic excellence, faith and service to others.

Gordon and Geri Moulton Scholarship in School of Computing
This scholarship was established in 2013 for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a deserving full-time student in the School of Computing with a minimum 3.0 GPA and a minimum 23 ACT. The John W. Laidlaw Foundation established this scholarship in memory of President Emeritus Gordon Moulton and in honor of Geri Moulton.

The Mr. and Mrs. William Paul Cobbs Scholarship was established in April 2014 by Patricia Cobb Rodgers. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to a School of Computing student majoring in health informatics.

Pardue - Landry Information Systems Scholarship
The Pardue - Landry Information Systems Scholarship was established in 2014 by Dr. J. Harold Pardue and Dr. Jeffrey P. Landry. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide funding for an annual tuition and fees endowed scholarship for a full-time undergraduate student in the Information Systems program in the School of Computing. Applicants must maintain a cumulative 3.0 GPA and must have a "B" or better in the first programming course.

Sandy and Jean Stimpson Scholarship in Computing
The Sandy and Jean Stimpson Scholarship in Computing was established in September 2014 by William S. Stimpson. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to a student enrolled in the School of Computing. Preference shall be given to a graduate of UMS-Wright.

BBVA Compass Scholarship for Cyber Security
The BBVA Compass Scholarship for Cyber Security was established in December 2014 by BBVA Compass. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to undergraduate students majoring or minoring in Cyber Assurance within the School of Computing. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference shall be given to students with a low to moderate income background as defined by the acceptable supporting criteria per the Community Reinvestment Act and HUD. Current acceptable criteria includes 1) students from those high schools that participate in the free and reduced lunch program, 2) financial documentation of applicants indicating low to moderate income per HUD guidelines for their respective city/county.

Doug and Casey Porter Endowed Scholarship
The Doug and Casey Porter Endowed Scholarship was established in August 2015 by Douglas H. Porter. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to an undergraduate junior or senior student with a declared major in the School of Computing. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and be a member of the Association of Computing Machinery. Preference shall be given to students involved in service/volunteer related activities.

Wei and David Feinstein Endowed Scholarship for Rising Sophomores in CIS
This scholarship was established to provide an annual tuition award to a rising sophomore student at the University of South Alabama who demonstrates solid academic achievement and has declared a major in Computer and Information Science.
Qualification Criteria Includes:
-Student must be a full-time student in the School of Computing
-Student must have a declared major in Computer and Information Sciences
-Student must be a rising sophomore.

BEST Robotics School of Computing Scholarship
High school seniors participating in the Mobile, Alabama BEST Robotics Competition are eligible to apply for USA's BEST Scholarship. The application will be available from your high school counselor Fall semester. The deadline is provided by the Jubilee BEST committee.

Robert A. Robertson School of Computing Entrepreneur Scholarship
The Robert A. Robertson School of Computing Entrepreneur Scholarship was established in September 2016 by Robert A. Robertson.  This scholarship was created to encourage students to have an entrepreneurial spirit and to pursue activities to further enhance their educational experience by participating in student clubs and research. Applicants must be an undergraduate student with a minimum 3.0 GPA who is an active member in at least one SoC student organization and who participates in computer related competitions associated with SoC student organizations.  Student applicants must submit ½ to one-page essay to the School of Computing Scholarship Committee describing his/her work on computing related projects outside of the classroom highlighting the originality and entrepreneurial aspect of their work.

Flora Henderson Knight Scholarship Fund
The Flora Henderson Knight Scholarship was established in 2006 for the purpose of providing an annual tuition award to an incoming freshman student. Student must be of African American or Hispanic heritage, with a minimum 2.5 GPA, and majoring in Education, Business, Medicine, Math, or Political Science. Student must also be an Alabama native and come from a low -income background. Preference will be given to students that are the first in their family to attend college.
In addition to meeting the above criteria, candidates must also submit an essay detailing obstacles they have overcome in life and the reasons a degree from USA is important to their future.
The recipient will be required to attend an award event, and meet with the donor. Scholarship funds may only be used to supplement USA Tuition and textbooks from the USA Bookstore. Scholarship will be renewable provided students meet renewal criteria.

Dr. Martin Luther King Student Scholarship
A scholarship in the name of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. has been established to assist returning African-American students with their educational pursuits. Scholarship applications will be mailed to full-time returning, African - American undergraduates, who have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.80, and has completed a minimum of 30 South Alabama hours, during the month of July. Scholarship recipients will be chosen by a Selection Committee in August to receive a non-renewable award of $500.00 each to be disbursed Fall Semester.

Ammons Student Leadership Scholarship
Available to a student who has achieved sophomore, junior, or senior class status and holds a GPA of 2.5 or higher. The scholarship is based on academic achievement, community involvement, and involvement and leadership on the University campus.

Henderson/Moe Second Chance Endowed Scholarship 
This scholarship was established by Pamela Henderson in honor of her late grandparents Robert and Mary Henderson and Ronald and Mae Moe, who believed in lifelong learning and that everyone deserves a second chance at a college education. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to a student who is 30 years of age or older and must have existing college credits (from USA or another institution), but have not earned a degree. Preference shall be given to a student who has financial need, while not necessarily meeting the federal requirements for financial aid. Student cannot be a current USA faculty/staff member or previous USA faculty/staff member.

William and Elizabeth Sadler Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Student should be a permanent resident of Clarke County, Alabama. (Preferred) If a student is not available that meets the above criteria, preference should be given to permanent resident of Alabama. Student should have a minimum 3.0 high school GPA and/or minimum 3.0 college GPA. Preference should be given to a student who exhibits financial need through not necessarily "need" as defined by Financial Aid.

Mortar Board Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to juniors and freshmen who exemplify the qualities of scholarship, leadership, and service. Juniors are selected during the fall semester and freshman are selected in the spring semester. Minimum GPA is 3.0.

Phi Kappa Phi Undergraduate Research Award
The USA Phi Kappa Phi Undergraduate Research Award is selected by a panel of university scholars and Phi Kappa Phi chapter members following review of papers submitted to USA's Undergraduate Research Program. This Honor comes with a monetary award of $200.00. The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi was founded at the University of Maine in 1897, and the USA chapter is the 194th, established in 1977. Its mission is "to recognize and promote academic excellence in all fields of higher education and to engage the community of scholars in service to others."

Mobile Jaycees Azalea Trail Endowed Scholarship
Mobile Azalea Trail has established the Mobile Jaycees Azalea Trail Endowed Scholarship fund with the University of South Alabama as a means to recognize Mobile Azalea Trail Maids who have best displayed the qualities of being a Mobile Azalea Trail Maid: service to the community and academic achievement. Through this scholarship, the Mobile Azalea Trail hopes to stay connected with the recipient through her college career and further serve as an advocate for the Mobile Azalea Trail.
To be eligible a student must:
-be a former Azalea Trail Maid,
-an incoming first-time freshman,
-have a high school GPA of 3.50 or greater,
-a score of 24 or higher on the ACT.
This is a renewable scholarship for up to four years of a students undergraduate degree, provided they meet the minimum continuing criteria of a 3.00 GPA and 30 credit hours per year. Recipients will be required to attend the Mobile Azalea Trail in October of each year to update the board on the progress of their college studies.

Jeremy Stephen Blanton Scholarship
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a student who has successfully completed his/her freshman year as determined by the Dean of Student Services. Student must have a minimum 2.75 GPA and be in financial need as established for Financial Aid.

Students with Disabilities Scholarship
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to students with physical, psychological, or learning disabilities.

USA Freshman Leadership Scholarship
This scholarship is a $2,000 per year renewable scholarship for a four-year total of $8,000. This scholarship, awarded to incoming freshman, is based on leadership and service commitments during high school. Priority will be given to students who represent economically and educationally disadvantaged groups or students who have participated in Educational Talent Search, Upward Bound, Stars and Stripes or other developmental/educational programs. Students should have a minimum 21 ACT composite score or minimum SAT of 980 (SAT critical reading + math), minimum 3.0 high school GPA and demonstrate leadership and/or service throughout high school.

Mark D. Fillers Scholarship in Memory of Valerie Evelyn Thacker Fillers
The Mark D. Fillers Scholarship in Memory of Valerie Evelyn Thacker Fillers was established in April 2014 by Mark D. Fillers. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to students who have a 3.0 overall GPA and display exceptional scholastic achievement. Priority will be given to applicants who are orphans, foster children, or adopted children.

John and Carolyn Conn Scholarship
The John and Carolyn Conn Scholarship was established in December 2014 by the John and Carolyn Conn Educational Foundation, Inc. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to a full time student from either Escambia County, Florida or Escambia County, Alabama. Applicants should have a minimum 3.0 GPA and a declared major in an applied professional program. Preference is given to freshman students from rural areas within the counties mentioned above.

David L. Zimlich Leadership Award
The David L. Zimlich Leadership Award was established in May 2015 by Gray T. Zimlich. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to an active member of Phi Kappa Sigma in good standing. Applicants should be full-time students with a minimum 3.0 overall GPA and should maintain a leadership role in at least two other students organizations. Students who have previously been awarded this scholarship shall be ineligible in following years.

Beta Theta Service Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2005 by Dr. and Mrs. Richard E. Talbott for the purpose of providing financial assistance to an outstanding USA student who is an active member of the Chi Omega Fraternity, Beta Theta Chapter. Student should have a minimum 3.0 GPA and minimum of Sophomore level classification. Student should also demonstrate active involvement in Chi Omega fraternity life and emulates ideals of the fraternity as set forth in the Chi Omega Symphony.

Mortar Board Junior Scholarship
This scholarships is awarded to juniors who exemplifies the qualities of scholarship, leadership, and service. Juniors are selected during the fall semester and must have a minimum 3.2 GPA.

Chi Omega Pearl Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2006 by the Chi Omega House Corporation for the purpose of providing financial assistance to an active member of Chi Omega Fraternity, Beta Theta Chapter. Student must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and minimum of Sophomore level classification. Student should also emulate the ideals set forth in the Chi Omega Symphony.

Christopher Thomas Student Leadership Scholarship
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to a current sophomore, junior or senior student who is an active member in at least two USA student organizations and holds an officer position within at least one of the organizations. Student must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA and express financial need. Preference shall be given to political science majors who meet all of the above criteria.

Mortar Board Freshman Scholarship
This scholarships is awarded to current USA freshman who exemplifies the qualities of scholarship, leadership, and service. Freshman are selected during their spring semester and must have a minimum 3.2 GPA.

Andrew and Daisy Agnew Endowed TriO Scholarship
The Andrew and Daisy Agnew Endowed TriO Scholarship was established in 2011 for the purpose of providing an annual scholarship to a student participating in the TRiO Program. Recipient must have a minimum 2.5 GPA and be a resident of the state of Alabama.

Study Abroad Scholarship
Each year, the USA Office of International Education and Study Abroad awards a limited number of scholarships to students who study abroad. The OIE Study Abroad Scholarship is a competitive scholarship intended to assist University of South Alabama students in funding their study abroad experience.

USA PAWS Around the World Study Abroad Scholarship
USA Paws Around The World Scholarship for Study Abroad is a scholarship for students who are enrolled as a degree seeking USA students in good academic and non-academic standing, with preference given to students who graduated from an Alabama high school. A student who has been previously awarded this scholarship is INELIGIBLE for the USA PAWS Around The World Endowed Scholarship for Study Abroad in the following years.

Baldwin County NOW Scholarship
USA Baldwin County established the Scholarship Now fund offering all Baldwin County students an opportunity to help further their education during the current economic hardships. The scholarships are designed to help students pay for a quarter, half or full tuition each semester. To qualify for a Scholarship Now students must be in good standing and enrolled in at least one class at the USA Baldwin County Campus.

Optimist Club of Daphne Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to deserving USA Baldwin County Campus students. Preference shall be given to a College of Education student.

Baldwin County Student Scholarship
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to deserving USA Baldwin County Campus students.

Bob Lager Endowed Scholarship 
This scholarship is awarded to a University of South Alabama student who attends USA -Baldwin County, and has a minimum GPA of 3.0. The scholarship was established in 2007 by Congressman Bradley Byrne, and his wife, Rebecca Byrne, to provide funding of an annual tuition award for the USA Baldwin County campus. The scholarship is in honor and memory of Dr. Robert Lager who was the Director of the School of Continuing Education and Special Programs Center for International Trade and Commerce.

Jack Edwards Scholarship
This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to an outstanding junior or senior student majoring in Political Science attending the USA Baldwin County Campus. All aid applicant levels will be considered.
