The Whiddon Honors Scholarship

Students admitted to the USA Honors Program may be eligible for a four-year Frederick P. Whiddon Scholarship in the amount below. Frederick P. Whiddon Scholarships are awarded only to U.S. citizens and Permanent Residents of the United States. Scholarships may be applied to tuition, fees, on-campus room and board, and books and supplies purchased at the university bookstore. Over and above a yearly Tuition Award, Whiddon Scholars are eligible to receive up to $2000 worth of research funding, up to $2000 worth of Study Abroad funding or up to 6 credit hours worth of Summer tuition on a competitive basis.

NOTE: As with all university scholarships, recipients whose GPA falls below 3.0 will have their scholarships terminated.

To Be Considered

  • Be a U. S. citizen or permanent resident
  • Be a 2016 high school graduate
  • Apply and be admitted to the University of South Alabama
  • Complete Honors Program application
  • Complete above procedures by December 4, 2015 for first consideration

To apply to the USA Honors Program, you must access the Honors Program application through the JagSPOT portal -USA’s Scholarship Program Opportunity Tracker. To do so you will need your JAG Number (Student ID) and your JagNet/JagMail password/credentials which are assigned to you after your admission to the university. Use your Jag Number, and JagMail credentials to log-in to the JagSPOT Portal. Please note: Though the Whiddon scholarship can be combined with most other scholarships, it cannot be added to the USA Presidential Scholarship. If you are awarded a Presidential Scholarship and subsequently awarded a Whiddon Scholarship, then your Presidential scholarship will be voided.
