USA Elects 2010 Student Government Association Officers

Kimberly Proctor, 2010-2011 SGA President
 
Mobile, Ala.-The University of South Alabama has announced the new Student Government Association officers for the 2010-2011 academic year.

Kimberly Proctor, 21, of Scottsboro, Ala., ., will serve as president. She is a senior majoring in history and English in the College of Arts and Sciences and the recipient of the Albert Schweitzer Scholarship. She served as SGA vice president and senator. She is a housing residence life advisor and member of Chi Omega Fraternity, Phi Alpha Theta history honor society, Pre-Law and Government Association, Order of Omega Greek honor society, Mortar Board, and Who’s Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities. Proctor also supports the Make-A-Wish Foundation. She is the daughter of Randy and Pam Moore.

Colin Al-Greene, 21, of Mobile, will serve as vice president. He is a junior majoring in interdisciplinary studies, who served as SGA chief justice. He is a member of Alpha Kappa Psi professional business fraternity, Freshman Advisory Board, and the Pre-Law and Government Association.  He is the son of Kim Al-Greene.

Michael Baldwin, 22, of Creola, Ala., will serve as treasurer for a second term. He is a senior majoring in computer science in the School of Computer and Information Sciences. He is a National Merit Scholar and member of the USA Honors Program, President’s List, and Sustainability Council. He is the son of Stuart Moss and Cindy Moss.

Troy Shephard, 19, of Mobile, will serve as chief justice. He is a sophomore majoring in biomedical sciences. He is a member of Alpha Kappa Psi professional business fraternity and Alpha Epsilon Delta health pre professional honor society. He is the son of Tammy Shephard.

Cameron Macon, 21, of Pensacola, will serve as attorney general. He is a junior majoring in political science and philosophy. He is the newly elected president of Sigma Chi Fraternity, and past SGA senator for the College of Arts and Sciences. He’s a member of the Pre-Law and Government Association, SGA legal committee and USA Traditions committee. He is also a Presidential Scholar, a member of the Dean’s List, a Greek Scholastic Achievement winner and recipient of the Davis Hallford Award for leadership. Macon is the son of Robert and Debbie Macon.

The purpose of the SGA is to protect and advance student interests as well as to promote the welfare of the student body. The organization operates as a constitutional democracy and is comprised of executive, judicial, and legislative branches.

Since its founding in 1963, USA has been one of Alabama’s fastest growing universities, currently enrolling more than 14,757 students in a wide range of academic programs in Allied Health Professions, Arts and Sciences, Mitchell College of Business, Computer and Information Sciences, Continuing Education and Special Programs, Education, Engineering, Medicine, Nursing and Pharmacy with  Auburn University. USA has awarded 66,000 degrees.
