The Office of Multi-Cultural Student Affairs at the University of South Alabama announces the 2013-2014 officers for the USA African-American Student Association. The AASA officers are the following:

Janelle Johnson, 20, a sophomore nursing major from Mobile will serve as president. Johnson was previously the vice president of AASA and is also a member of Jaguar Productions, Women of Excellence, and Abeneefoo Kuo Honor Society. Her parents are Larry and Carroll Johnson. 

Olivia Lee, 20, a sophomore majoring in healthcare management from Ocean Springs, Miss., will serve as vice president. Lee is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and Abeneefoo Kuo Honor Society. Her parents are Douglas and Cynthia Lee.

Victoria Scott, 20, a sophomore majoring in communication from Montgomery, Ala., will serve as secretary. Scott was previously Miss AASA and is a member of the AASA Gospel Choir and Jaguar Productions. She is the daughter of Bobby and Marilyn Scott.

Chelsea Barley, 21, a junior majoring in leisure studies from Tuscaloosa, Ala., will serve as treasurer. Barley is also a member of Women of Excellence. She is the daughter of Arma Barley.

Reginald Walker, 21, a freshman majoring in marketing from Mobile will serve as chief justice. Walker served as senior class president at Faith Academy High School and has participated in community service with the Salvation Army. He is the son of Robert and Regina Walker.

Tashira Spann- Wallace, 19, a sophomore majoring in health sciences from Gulfport, Miss., will serve as publicity chair. She is a member of Jaguar Productions and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. Her parents are Christopher Wallace and Terri Cooper.

Dominic Barnett, 20, a sophomore majoring in radiologic sciences from Gulfport, Miss., will serve as historian. Barnett is also a member of Jaguar Productions. Her parents are Malinda Barnett and Stacy Pearson.

Martha Mayo, 20, a sophomore majoring in pre-occupational therapy from Tuskegee, Ala., will serve as black awareness chair. Mayo is a member of the Prima Dance Theater of Mobile and Jaguar Productions. Her parents are Jessie and Conchita Mayo.

Rami Burkes, 20, a junior majoring in radiologic sciences from Smiths Station, Ala., will serve as black awareness co-chair. Burkes is a member of the South Alabama Jagettes. She is the daughter of Susie Burkes.

Khadijah Smith, 19, a freshman majoring in exercise science from Pensacola, Fla., will serve as black awareness co-chair. Smith is a member of AASA Gospel Choir and Students Today Alumni Tomorrow. She is the daughter of Kissa Smith.

Danielle Watson, 19, a sophomore majoring in biomedical sciences from Huntsville, Ala., will serve as Miss AASA. Watson is a member of the Student Government Association where she serves as attorney general. Her parents are Robert and Antionette Watson.

Brandon Williams, 19, a freshman psychology major from Eufala, Ala., will serve as Mr. AASA. Williams is the son of James and Alesha Williams.

AASA was established in 1968 to promote a general knowledge of African-American culture and society on USA’s campus. AASA also serves as a unifying force for African-American students, faculty and staff. The organization also provides opportunities for students to share in cultural, educational and social programs.
