Maria Papp


Maria Papp, who was born in Argentina, has been an interpreter/translator in the Mobile and Eastern Shore of Mobile Bay area since 1968.  She has extensive experience in bilingual education, from early childhood to adult level.  Since 1982, she has worked as a freelance interpreter for the United States District Court and Southern District of Alabama.  Her bilingual knowledge covers the simple stages of interrogation to more elaborate legal situations, including civil and criminal law, social services, labor relations, depositions, etc.

Lydia Chan small


Lydia Chan, grew up in Taiwan, and her native language is Mandarin Chinese.  After she graduated from Soochow University in Taiwan, she worked as an English language instructor.  

College Education:
She received her Master of Education degree from the University of Texas at Austin in Instructional Technology. 

Experience in language instruction/translation/interpretation: 
Chan was a substitute teacher and volunteer at the San Antonio Chinese Culture Institute for five years before moving with her family to Fairhope.  She has taught Chinese at the Mobile Chinese School.  Chan said she loves to interact with students, and always looks for new ideas to enhance student learning.



John Brandon small


John P. Brandon, a certified financial planner, has 25 years of experience in the financial services industry. 

College Education:
He is currently working on obtaining his Master’s degree in Financial Services from the Institute of Business and Finance, and received his B.S. degree from Louisiana Tech University. 

Experience in language instruction/translation/interpretation: 
He is currently with Atlantes Financial Advisors in Fairhope.



Kim Jones non-credit instructor


Kim Jones has been an active member of the teaching staff at Jubilee Music in Fairhope for many years. 

College Education:
She has earned graduate degrees in Educational Administration, Educational Media, Chemistry, and Genetics.  She also earned undergraduate degrees in medical and dental lab technology and pure and applied science. 

Experience in language instruction/translation/interpretation: 
She has been active in the development of a local music mission for children in the area.  Jones has taught guitar, banjo, mandolin, and piano for many years.



Marie-Helene Hickman rev


Marie-Hèléne Hickman, was born in Brunoy, France, a suburb of Paris. 

College Education:
After she received her Bachelor’s degree in France, she moved to the United States when she was 22 years old. 

Experience in language instruction/translation/interpretation: 
During her career, she has taught every level and age group in academia, and is also a private tutor for businesses and individuals.  In addition to many of her teaching positions, she was an Adjunct Professor at Auburn University and Alabama State University, both in Montgomery, and Corpus Christi School in Mobile.  Returning to France frequently, she has been an educational tour guide there for the past thirty years.



Angelica Jones cropped


Angelica K. Jones, a native of Kiev, Ukraine.

College Education:
She studied English as a Second Language for five years and graduated with honors from the University of Linguistics, Kiev, Ukraine.  

Experience in language instruction/translation/interpretation: 
After graduation, Jones accepted an invitation from her alma mater to teach English Grammar (Practical Application).  In addition, for five years, she taught continuing education classes in Russian Language and the History of Russia and Ukraine at Edison Community College, in Fort Myers, Florida.  Currently, she works as a translator and voice talent for Televox, Mobile, AL, and has also interpreted for Social Security judges for many years.  Jones has three children and three pets.  She enjoys gardening and gourmet cooking.  She has been part of many mission trips to the Far East of Russia and loves working with orphans.


Stephen Savage


Stephen Savage is a self employed professional photographer. 

College Education:
He received his Master of Liberal Art degree specializing in art history from Springhill College in Mobile, AL, and received his Bachelor of Art degree specializing in fine art photography  from George Washington University in Washington, D.C.  

He is an adjunct professor at Springhill College in Mobile, and has taught photography at the Eastern Shore Art Center.
