SouthFit offers a one-semester, non-credit class to prepare you to be a group fitness instructor or personal trainer. Both theoretical knowledge (anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, nutrition, kinesiology) and practical skills are emphasized. Info meeting: Thursday, August 21, 4:30 PM in Rec Center classroom. Class meets Tu/Th, 4:30- 5:30 PM, Aug 26-October 21.
Practical Skills Covered
Class components and design, music, cueing, posture, alignment, safety, and more
Fitness assessments, health screenings, muscular imbalances, session design, posture, alignment, safety, and more.
Just show up to the info meeting on August 21 at 4:30 PM in the Rec Center classroom. Students will receive a syllabus and we will discuss working in the fitness industry. If students choose to participate in the course, the fee will be due at the 1st class on August 26

Private lectures or fitness classes
Our staff is available for private lectures or fitness classes for your university group. Lectures include risk factors for cardiovascular disease, alcohol & nutrition, basic ChooseMyPlate guidelines, and how to set up an exercise plan. Fitness classes include all types of classes offered by SouthFit (click here for descriptions).
Private lectures/classes can be held at the Student Recreation Center or your campus office. Please email email@example.com to request a private lecture/class. The fee is $45/hour and we provide all handouts and/or equipment.
Recreation Center Tours
We are happy to give short tours (20-30) minutes of the Recreation Center to Freshman Experience classes (CAS 100), Concepts of Health & Fitness classes (PE 100), or any other group on campus.
