TO: Faculty and Staff

FROM: V. Gordon Moulton

I am pleased to report that Governor Bob Riley will be on campus Monday, Aug. 25, to speak at a community-wide Town Meeting on Alabama’s tax reform proposal.

This event is being hosted by the University and will be open to the public. It will be held in the Mitchell Center starting at 5:30 p.m.

I invite and encourage all University employees and students to attend, and bring family and friends. Mark your calendars and share this information with USA students and others whom we serve.

In addition to hearing from Governor Riley, this event will feature a fish fry and musical entertainment from area high school bands. Numerous community, governmental and civic leaders will attend, along with representatives of the Mobile County Public Schools, Chamber of Commerce and the business community. This event will give the Mobile/Baldwin community an opportunity to learn more about how tax reform can dramatically improve our state’s future.

As I indicated in an earlier letter, the University of South Alabama and the many people it serves through education, health care and service will benefit immensely from a YES vote on Sept. 9. Please join me in securing passage of this important legislation that is vital to the educational and economic future of our state.

For detailed information on the tax reform package, go to the USA main Web site, www.southalabama.edu and click on the “tax reform” icon. To participate in the tax reform campaign, contact Keith Ayers, director of public relations, at (251) 460.6211 or at kayers@usouthal.edu.

Vote YES on September 9!
