The department of English in the College of Arts and Sciences at USA, presents a poetry reading by W.D. Snodgrass, Pulitzer Prize-winning poet at 7 p.m., Monday, Oct. 20 in the University of South Alabama Library Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.

Snodgrass, was born in Wilkinsburg, Pa., in 1926, and attended Geneva College and the University of Iowa. His works are included in more than 20 books of poetry, with his first poem “Hearts Needle” receiving a Pulitzer Prize.

He also has a long distinguished academic career behind him, having taught at Cornell University, University of Rochester, Wayne State, Syracuse University, Old Dominion and Delaware Universities.

Snodgrass retired from teaching in 1994, and now writes full-time. He lives with his wife, Kathleen Snodgrass, who’s also a writer. They live in upstate New York. Jaguar Productions at USA is also a co-sponsor of this poetry reading. For more information call 460-7144.
