Students from the University of South Alabama Mitchell College of Business competed in the Southeast Regional Human Resources Games and Student Conference at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Va., April 17-18.

USA senior students Katie Finnegan of Ocean Springs, Miss., William DeMouy of Mobile, and Jamilah Haseeb of Mobile placed third out of 28 teams from across the southeast. Senior students Richard “Bo” Bonner of Atmore, Kenneth Barney of Gulfport, and Jeremy Doggette of Mobile also represented the Mitchell College of Business in the competition.

HRGames is a Jeopardy-style competition, which tests students’ knowledge of human resources using the Human Resource Certification Institute’s body of knowledge. The games exist to promote human resource education, the value of the certification exam and showcase the development of students, according to the Society for Human Resource Management.

The event was sponsored by the Society, the Richmond Human Resource Management Association, and VCU. In addition to the HRGames, the conference provided students with educational and networking opportunities.

USA Mitchell College of Business Management Chair Dr. Marjorie Icenogle advised the students during the competition.
