Callis President and Chief Executive Dean N. Parker, Jr. addressed the students of the University of South Alabama’s Mitchell Master of Business Administration program on Monday, Feb. 7, at 6 p.m. in Room 265 of the USA Mitchell College of Business on the main campus.
Parker oversees primary strategic direction for Callis. His twelve years of telecommunications experience include the founding of Allpage in Mobile in 1999 and the evolution of the company in 2004 to a competitive local exchange carrier delivering hosted voice-over-Internet-protocol solutions for small and medium-sized businesses.
Under Parker’s leadership, Callis’ annual revenue grew by more than 600 percent in three years, resulting in its being named one of the top-five small technology companies in 2006 and 2008 by the Alabama Information Technology Association. He also has been named to the INC 5000 list and the top 40 growing telecommunication companies in 2008, 2009 and 2010.
He co-founded the Cloud Communications Alliance, the country’s leader in cloud communications. Parker is also known as an industry expert in the telecom space speaking at VON, an Internet telephony conference, and in many university settings on the topics of technology, leadership and entrepreneurship.
Prior to founding Callis, Parker oversaw a $100 million-plus business as manager of indirect distribution for General Electric’s private radio division and then later acquired Ericsson’s. He also served as manager of distribution development responsible for sales programs, promotions and dealer relations, and increased Eastern region sales by 130 percent.
A business graduate of Liberty University, Parker is a member of the University of South Alabama Jaguar Athletic Fund Board and the Mobile Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Advisors. As a member of the University of Mobile’s Board of Trustees, he chairs the Development Committee.
