Squeezed between narrow
walls, life packed into
plastic totes stacked
in a truck, then unstacked
and toted and stacked
between narrow walls,
they move from one
set of walls to
another, cushions
and bedding and boxes
of pots piled through
doorways, while baby
bounces in her bouncy
chair and clatters
plastic rings, her smile
an inward grin
at all this noise
when her life is still
held between her
tiny pink palms.
