Dr. Ryon McDermott Featured in The Monitor

Dr. Ryon McDermott, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Counseling and Instructional Sciences, was featured along with other researchers and clinicians in the American Psychological Association's professional trade magazine, The Monitor on Psychology. The article provides a summary and overview of the recently approved guidelines for best psychological practices for men and boys. The guidelines are based on 40 years of research and theory in the psychology of men and masculinities and took nearly 13 years to complete.
Dr. McDermott was a contributor and helped draft several of the guidelines related to men's sexism, sexual assault, and avoidance of help-seeking. Dr. McDermott's research program assessing the negative and positive aspects of different masculinities was also featured in the Monitor article. You can download a copy here
