Official Race the Appalachian Trail Team Step Challenge Rules

These rules will supersede any previous rules included in emails or online promotions.

The Race the Appalachian Trail Team Step Challenge begins Sunday, Feb. 14, at 12:01 a.m. Steps will begin to be counted on this day. View the event poster [PDF]. To join, click here. Once a team list is generated, players will be able to select team names from a drop down list.

Rosters

  • Walkers may not be permitted to change teams after week one of the contest unless their current team has left the contest. Any change of team request must be submitted and approved by the JagFIT team.
  • Teams may add members to their roster through the duration of the challenge. Any steps new members walked prior to their addition to the team will not be included in the step counts.

Steps

  • Steps that count toward the team total and individual total must be verifiable either by wearable tracker, phone tracker, JagFIT app, etc.
  • Only a team’s top 15 steppers per week will be counted toward the team leaderboard.

Log Users

  • Steps for the previous week must be submitted by Monday at 5 p.m. Any steps submitted after that time will not be applied to the team totals.
  • If you’ve joined the challenge group in the JagFIT App, steps may be counted due to the nature of the app. Submissions into the log will be compared to app submissions and the highest amount of steps will be taken.

App Users

  • Make sure your wearable device is connected to the JagFIT App. Please see attached document for more information. If you are having trouble connecting your wearable device, please use the links below for more troubleshooting help.
  • Make sure you’re opening the JagFIT App daily to ensure your steps are being counted accurately.

Leaderboard

  • The official Race the Appalachian Team Leaderboard will try to be published by the JagFIT Office on the JagFIT Website every Tuesday at 5 p.m. pending verification of any steps that may have been disputed.

Awards

  • If we are unable to determine which team arrived at Mount Katahdin, Maine first due to similar time and date of completion, we will go to a tie breaker of most team total steps completed by 11:59 p.m. the day of completion to determine the winning team.

JagFIT reserves the right to make rule clarifications, changes, and revisions as needed for the Race the Appalachian Trail Challenge.
