USA Nursing Faculty Recognized for Grant Funding Received in 2023

College of Nursing Faculty recognized for grant data-lightbox='featured'

The University of South Alabama recently recognized all faculty recipients of both externally and internally funded awards for 2023 in a special faculty appreciation luncheon. Seven faculty members from the College of Nursing were recognized.

The nursing faculty includes Dr. Emily Bentley, assistant dean for clinical affairs and assistant professor, Dr. Ashley Bowman, assistant professor of maternal/child health nursing, Dr. Katherine Bydalek, associate professor, Dr. Leigh Minchew, associate dean for academic affairs and associate professor, Dr. Lori Moore, assistant professor of adult health nursing, Dr. Shanda Scott, assistant dean for academic affairs and assistant professor, and Dr. Kimberly Williams, professor of community/mental health nursing.

Special recognition was given to faculty members who received more than one million dollars. The faculty members on the over-a-million list include Dr. Katherine Bydalek, Dr. Shanda Scott and Dr. Kimberly Williams. College-based recognition was also given to Dr. Emily Bentley.

“Our faculty in the College of Nursing work tirelessly to benefit our students and community,” Dr. Sharon Fruh, associate dean for research, evaluation and development, said. “I am so proud of the faculty that have been successful in securing grant funding to provide additional support for research, student education and success, and services dedicated to care for our community's underserved populations.”

In total, the College of Nursing raised more than 6.4 million dollars in 2023.

2023 Faculty Awarded More Than a Million Dollars:

  • Dr. Katherine Bydalek: $1,081,196
  • Dr. Shanda Scott: $1,156,827
  • Dr. Kimberly Williams: $1,458,540
