The AICHE Southern Regional Student Conference was held March 3-5 in Gainesville, FL. Twelve students attended the conference with each one of them competing in either the Chemical Engineering Jeopardy competition or the Research Poster Presentation competition. It was our first-time competing in the Jeopardy competition, but our team made the semi-finals. South also won both 1st and 2nd place overall in the poster competition beating out all other schools in the southern region. Micah Dickens (pictured 3rd from right) came in 1st place with his work under Dr. Brooks Rabideau on electrochemistry simulations. Danielle Flores (pictured front centered) came in 2nd place for her work under Dr. Kevin West on the thermal stability of ionic liquids.
