New Faculty Scholar Awardee- Dr. Anthony Bessios

Anthony Bessios has over 20 years building expertise and experience in electrical engineering. What began as curiosity as a child for the wave forms on radar signals seen in a news story, developed into a lifelong passion for the field, and a lifelong quest for knowledge and discovery.
Anthony holds 25 US patents several of them filed also internationally, with colleagues
and professors, and his desire to innovate, and continue to learn and push forward
continues to propel him forward into new pursuits.
Anthony has worked for companies such as Bell Labs, Lucent Technologies, Texas Instruments,
Rambus and Ansaldo STS USA (Hitachi); at the same time, he was teaching part time
at the Electrical Engineering departments of Lehigh University and University of Pittsburgh.
Currently, he devotes full time energy to infecting his students with his passion
for electrical engineering. Anthony considers teaching students and sharing the knowledge,
a priority, and seeing their growth toward becoming EEs is very rewarding.
Anthony received his BSEE from National Technical University of Athens, Greece and
MSEE and Ph.D. from Northeastern University, Boston MA and his thesis and research
/ career experience lies in the general areas of DSP and communications. He also
held a 3-year visiting research assistant appointment at the Signal and Image Processing
Institute at USC, Los Angeles, and a postdoctoral fellowship at the Harbor Branch
Oceanographic Institute in Fort Pierce, FL. Anthony is also a Senior Member of the
IEEE.
In his “spare” time, Anthony enjoys traveling, yoga, biking, fishing, reading, cooking, and exploring his new home in Mobile, Alabama.
