Posted on August 13, 2024 by Derik Wolfe
A new $275,000 project entitled “Carbohydrate Memristor Empowered Environmentally Sustainable Processor-in-Memory” has been awarded by the NSF. The project is led by PI, Dr. Jinhui Wang, Professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, College of Engineering.
In this project, Dr. Wang’s team will develop a carbohydrate-based electronic device
for Artificial Intelligence (AI) hardware design and computing systems, aimed at low
cost, energy efficiency, and environmental sustainability. This project aligns with
national priorities and supports the CHIPS and Science Act of 2022, to enhance U.S.
leadership, spur economic growth, and advance research in microelectronics and semiconductors.
