Beta Alpha Psi Named Superior Chapter
The University of South Alabama’s Epsilon Beta Chapter of Beta Alpha Psi (Accounting
Honor Society) was given the superior chapter award at the Beta Alpha Psi National
Meeting in Milwaukee, WI on August 8, 2015. To earn superior chapter designation,
the chapter had to meet all professional and service hour requirements along with
all reporting requirements for the last academic year. Faculty Advisor Dr. Tom Noland
stated, “The superior chapter designation was due to the hard work of last year’s
officers and members led by former President Curry Beeker.”
The Chapter was extremely active during the last academic year. The chapter conducted
14 professional events, two initiation ceremonies and attended both the national and
regional meetings. Chapter members were also very engaged with service activities.
Chapter members tutored in the accounting lab, volunteered with the IRS VITA program,
and assisted Dr. Carol Vann in cooking and preparing food for the Ronald McDonald
House in both the spring and fall semesters. The Bay Area Food Bank recognized the
chapter for having one of the top food drives in 2014.
This year’s president, T. J. Nolan, represented the chapter at the national meeting
where he participated in the International Day of Literacy sponsored by KPGM LLP,
First Book, and the United Way of Greater Milwaukee. T. J. also attended numerous
presentations to include the Future of the Accounting Profession, Leadership, and
Accounting in the Digital Age.
