TEAM MCOB: 150+ STRONG

Alvin Williams

The Mitchell College of Business is quite fortunate to enjoy tremendous support from so many different sectors of our community.  One group that continues to add immense value again and again is the many advisory boards that keep us firmly grounded in providing the curriculum, programs, and services that make us the market-centered, student-oriented team that we are today.

Very few business schools of our size can boast of 150+ business professionals, all levels, that consistently offer the quality of guidance that we frequently enjoy. Collectively, the following advisory groups make us stronger and more vibrant every single day. They include:

  • Executive Advisory Council
  • Accounting Advisory Board
  • Finance, Economics and Real Estate
  • Jaguar Investment Fund
  • Management
  • Marketing
  • Melton Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation
  • South Alabama Center for Business Analytics, Real Estate and Economic Development.

These external advisory teams embody a rich cross-section of the Gulf Coast business community. They represent the gamut, from some of the largest multinational firms in our area to well-regarded sole proprietorships and entrepreneurs.  Exactly what do they contribute?  They are the eyes and ears of the marketplace that ‘translate’ and ‘interpret’ those phenomena for implications for the Mitchell College of Business.  More specifically, these marketplace changes influence:

  • Curriculum
  • Program enhancements
  • Career preparation
  • Internships
  • Service opportunities
  • Outreach initiatives
  • Research ideas and partnerships
  • Development opportunities
  • Branding and competitive strategies

Why are our advisory teams so special?  They have passion for the MCOB, genuine concern for student success, diverse perspectives, strong leadership acumen, reputational strength in the business community, strong depth/breadth in their functional areas, and considerable operational, tactical, and strategic variety in skill sets.  On balance, they make a WORLD of difference in our capacity to strive for higher quality and stronger performance.

Again, thank you for investing in us!  Team MCOB - You make the difference!
