Pitch Perfect
The Melton Center for Entrepreneurship and Education is pleased to announce that entries are now open for the annual Coastal Pitch Competition. This competition has been held annually since 2016 and has awarded thousands of dollars to students willing to pitch business ideas in front of a live audience. This year there will be a thousand-dollar prize for first place, five hundred dollars for second place and two hundred fifty dollars for third.
The competition is conducted in two rounds. To enter, students must submit a link to a short form video social media post on a major platform (TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, etc.). Entries are due March 31st at midnight.
Finalists will be selected to compete live on Friday April 14th at the Innovation Portal in downtown Mobile on St. Louis St. There the finalists will give a one-to-two-minute elevator pitch about their business with information about what problem they’re solving, how they plan to solve it, and how they’ll make money. Judges will evaluate the pitch presentation and determine winners based on the contest criteria.
Assistance to interested students, and the link to register is available at the Melton Center’s website. In addition, there will be an information session on March 21st in room 202 of the Mitchell College of Business with additional details. If you are interested in sponsoring this or any Melton Center Program, if you would like to judge entries or watch the competition, or if the Melton Center can be of assistance to you in any way, please email Dr. Nelson at thomasnelson@southalabama.edu.
