Got Data? Learn How to Use it to Your Advantage
Due to technological advancements, we are able to produce more data now than we have ever been, which has led to the rapid growth of data science and data analytics. Scanning devices help track shipments, personal smartphones help businesses understand our consumer preferences. With all that data, a question arises: What do we do with it?
Mobile is home to a diverse economy where many companies, just like others around the globe, are growing their business intelligence and analytics teams. To help those data teams network and learn from each other right here in the Mobile Bay area, we have started organizing a business analytics conference on campus.
The 2nd Annual SABRE Analytics Summit will take place at the MacQueen Alumni Center on the University of South Alabama campus on November 17, 2022, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The Summit brings together industry, academia, and students from the Central Gulf Coast. The summit's objectives are to learn about the latest trends and best practices in business analytics in various industries, network with regional data-minded industry and academia experts, and enhance personal and organizational data analytics skills and capabilities.
The Summit will feature speakers from Amazon, Aker Solutions and APM Terminals Mobile. They will address how they use people, operations, and supply chain analytics to drive decision-making. Additionally, communication experts will explain how data professionals can improve their communication strategies. There will also be a Q&A session with Brian Mooneyham, an expert in data science and analytics, where attendees can bring any data-related questions for him to answer. The end of the conference will be dedicated to Hot Cocoa Happy Hour, an hour long career fair for students interested in careers in data.
While the conference is a paid event, special rates for USA employees and students are available. Thanks to Event Sponsors scholarships are available for current students, as well. The career fair is free to all students, not just conference attendees, who are interested in data careers.
*Attendees must register for the Summit and can do so here. For any questions or more information, email jstupavsky@southalabama.edu.
