On November 18, 2021 the South Alabama Center for Business Analytics, Real Estate
and Economic Development, SABRE, hosted the inaugural Business Analytics Summit. The Summit brought together over
130 attendees from academia to various business industries to start building a coastal
analytics community. Industry professionals, students, staff and faculty had the opportunity
to receive insights into the world of data analytics and exchange knowledge with fellow
data analytics enthusiasts. At the summit, attendees were able to listen to 14 business
professional speakers from different industries such as: Michelle Crowe the Chief
Marketing Officer of e-worc, Brent Dudley President of 68 Ventures or Brian Mooneyham,
VP, Analytics, Decision Support and Data Visualization, Operations at Wells Fargo.
During panel discussions, the speakers exchanged their knowledge and views on important
topics such as data governance and workforce challenges in analytics. Additionally
the speakers presented current data analytics insights into reporting, visualization,
and storytelling.
Besides business professionals, students from the University of South Alabama, Troy
University, and Springhill College attended the SABRE Analytics Summit, to learn about
data analytics and how to become a data analytics expert.
“Just like we intended, the event has helped us jumpstart forming an analytics community
in the Mobile area.” Said center Assistant Director, Jana Stupvasky. “We have been
receiving good feedback about topics of interest for future sessions, panels and even
workshops. We will carefully evaluate all the feedback and work towards making next
year’s event even better.”
