Peter Wood Faculty Trumpet Recital October 9 at Laidlaw

On Thursday, October 9 at 7:30 p.m., Dr. Peter Wood will perform a faculty trumpet recital in the Recital Hall of the Laidlaw Performing Arts Center on the campus of the University of South Alabama. With the collaboration of pianist Jasmin Arakawa, Wood will perform an exciting and international program of works for trumpet and piano. The concert will feature Rodion Shchedrin’s flashy Im Stile von Albéniz, Charles Chaynes’s iconic French Concerto for Trumpet, Albert Guinovart’s beautiful Spanish Quatre Preludis de Llum, the Italian Baroque Oboe Concerto in C Major by Domenico Cimarosa, Eric Ewazen’s lush Variations and Fugue on a Theme by Brahms for flugelhorn and piano, and Tae Hong Park’s T1 for trumpet and electroacoustic accompaniment. The concert is part of the USA Musical Arts Series.
Tickets for this Musical Arts Series event will be sold at the door only. Admission is $8 general and $5 for USA faculty & staff, USA students, youths under 18 and all senior citizens (cash or check only). About Peter Wood
Dr. Peter Wood serves as Professor of Trumpet at the University of South Alabama and is the Publications Editor for the International Trumpet Guild. He plays trumpet in the Mobile Symphony and has performed on four continents in a wide variety of solo, chamber, jazz, and orchestral settings. A member of the faculty for the annual International Trumpet Symposium, he has performed at conferences of the International Trumpet Guild, the College Music Society, and the Society of Electroacoustic Music in the United States, as well as at the Florida Electroacoustic Music Festival in Gainesville; and he has played recitals and taught master classes at colleges and universities throughout the United States. He has recorded solo CDs in the U.S. and Italy on the MSR Classics and Beauport Classical labels.
