The University of South Alabama Flute Choir and Celtic Crúe, directed by Dr. Andra Bohnet, will present their Fall Concert on Thursday, November 19 at 7:30 p.m. in the Laidlaw Performing Arts Center Recital Hall. The program will highlight the musical technique of variation, opening with “Variations on an Ancient Pavane” by Erving Monroe and featuring also an anonymous set of variations from the 17th century on "Greensleeves." Other works on the program are “Wordless Songs” by Judy Nishimura and “The Mayflower Suite” by Catherine McMichael, on which the ensemble will be joined by pianist Dr. Jasmin Arakawa.
After a brief intermission, the Celtic Crúe will present four sets of Irish traditional music performed on simple system Irish style flutes, Celtic harp and bodhran. This is the only ensemble at the collegiate level in the country that combines traditional instruments and culturally appropriate instrumental techniques with a flute choir like sensibility. They have been featured performers at the National Flute Association.

Admission is $8 general and $5 for USA faculty & staff, USA students, youths under 18 and all senior citizens (cash or check only).
