USA Concert Choir and University Chorale Spring Choral Concert April 28 at Laidlaw
Posted on April 24, 2016 by Keith Bohnet
The Spring Choral Concert at the University of South Alabama will take place on Thursday, April 28, at 7:30 p.m. in the Laidlaw Performing Arts Center. Titled “Star Light, Star Bright,” the concert will feature two very special works. The Concert Choir will sing the Southeast premiere of “Stella Clara,” a work commissioned by the choir. The Concert Choir will also reprise its performance of the final portion of the Beethoven Choral Fantasy, featuring Dr. Jasmin Arakawa as the piano soloist. The University Chorale will join the Concert Choir in singing pieces about light, night, and stars, including settings by Lauridsen, Rachmaninoff, Morley, Tallis, Casals, Ticheli, and other composers. Conductor Dr. Laura Moore will be joined by two student conductors. We know you will enjoy this concert of beautiful, moving, lively, and poignant choral works drawn from 400 years of choral literature.
