USA Flute Choir and Celtic Crúe Spring Concert March 30!!
Posted on March 26, 2017 by Keith Bohnet
The University of South Alabama Flute Choir and Celtic Crúe, directed by Dr. Andra Bohnet and Travis Jones, will present their Spring Concert on Thursday, March 30 at 7:30 p.m. in the Laidlaw Performing Arts Center Recital Hall. The Flute Choir will perform works written for this unique-sounding ensemble as well as transcriptions from the classical music repertoire.
After a brief intermission, the Celtic Crúe will present several sets of toe tapping jigs, reels and achingly beautiful slow airs performed on simple system Irish style flutes assisted by members of Dr. Luis Rivera’s World Music Ensemble. This is the only ensemble at the collegiate level in the country that combines traditional instruments and culturally appropriate instrumental techniques with a flute choir like sensibility. This year, the Celtic Crúe has the distinct honor of having been selected to perform at the 45th Annual National Flute Association Convention in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Tickets for this Musical Arts Series event will be sold at the door only.
