Oo la la!!! USA Opera Theatre takes its first venture into French operetta with its production of Jacques Offenbach's La Vie Parisienne April 21, 22, and 23, 2017. Parisian dandies competing for the affections of a well-known actress, servants masquerading as aristocrats, a confused Swedish baron and his wife, a saucy Brazilian millionaire, memorable tunes and raucous can-can dancing combine for an outrageous, slap-stick look at "The Parisian Life." One of Offenbach's most popular operettas, La Vie Parisienne will be sung in French (with supertitles and dialogue in English). This will be the first performance of the work in the Gulf Coast region. The production will be directed by Thomas L. Rowell and the USA Opera Orchestra will be under the baton of conductor Robert J. Seebacher.
NOTE: Advance tickets for La Vie Parisienne performances may be purchased beginning April 10, Monday-Thursday 3:30-6:30 p.m. in the USA Department of Music office at Laidlaw. $15 general admission and $10 for USA Faculty/Staff/Students and seniors citizens (cash or check only). MAS pass holders must purchase a separate ticket for this event. (Tickets of course will be on sale at the door on performance dates as available beginning one hour before show time. Tickets purchased will be for assigned seating.)
Persons needing more information about this event or in need of special accommodation may call (251) 460-7116 or (251) 460-6136.
