Trumpeter Eric Millard will perform a guest artist trumpet recital on Wednesday afternoon, April 11 at 3:00 p.m. in the Laidlaw Performing Arts Center Recital Hall. The recital will feature works for trumpet from the repertoire of the Baroque, Classic, Romantic and Modern eras.

About the performer

Eric Millard is a trumpet performer and teacher in the Big Bend of Florida region. Currently serving as 3rd trumpet with the Tallahassee Symphony, Millard can also be seen performing with other local orchestras including the Pensacola Symphony, Sinfonia Gulf Coast, Northwest Florida Symphony, and Albany Symphony. Eric is currently a founding member of Garnet and Brass and has performed with the Florida State Faculty Quintet. As a soloist, Millard has won prizes at prestigious competitions including the ITG Solo Competition, National Trumpet Competition, and MTNA Solo Competition and has won concerto competitions at both of his alma maters. Recently, Eric has performed with ensembles at festivals and conferences including CDBNA, the North Sea and Montreux Jazz Festivals, and FSMTA.

Eric is currently pursuing his doctorate in trumpet performance at Florida State University. Millard’s primary instructors are Christopher Moore, Vince Dimartino, Robert Sullivan, Mark Clodfelter, and William Stowman.
