Senior Vocalist Sieanna Zapata Completes Spring Recital April 2

USA mezzo soprano Sieanna Zapata successfully completed a Senior Voice Recital on Thursday, April 2, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. in the Laidlaw Performing Arts Center Recital Hall.  Assisting in this performance with Zapata was guest pianist Lindsey Hughes and guest cellist Tobin Nelson, both of whom are South Alabama alumni.  The concert was presented in front of an empty house due to coronavirus protections, and all musicians performing in this concert maintained proper social distancing per university and local guidelines.
 
This recital was the culmination of Zapata's time as a student at South Alabama, having as an undergraduate performer been a member of several elite ensembles, including the USA Concert Choir and USA Opera Theatre.
 
Sieanna Zapata's final senior recital was presented in partial fulfillment of the degree Bachelor of Music with Concentration in Music Education – Vocal.  Zapata is a student of Linda Zoghby.

"Che faro senza Euridice?" from Orfeo ed Euridice by Christoph Willibald Gluck

Der Blumenstrauss by Felix Mendelssohn

Zueignung by Richard Strauss

"La-bas, ver l'eglise" from Cinq melodies populaires grecques by Maurice Ravel

Apres un reve and Les berceaux by Gabriel Faure

Black is the Color (of My True Love's Hair) by John Jacob Niles

"Silent Noon" from The House of Life by Ralph Vaughan Williams

"Something Wonderful" from The King and I by Rodgers & Hammerstein

"Matchmaker" from Fiddler on the Roof by Harnick & Bock
