USA Opera Theatre presents "The Mikado" April 23 and April 25
Posted on April 21, 2021 by Keith Bohnet
Who is that masked minstrel? What is the secret he’s hiding? Does a second trombone player have a chance with the leading lady? Will the Emperor reduce the town to the rank of a village? Who will the Lord High Executioner put on his list? How does an opera happen in the middle of a pandemic?
All these mysteries and more will be solved as USA Opera Theatre, under the direction of Dr. Thomas Rowell, presents Gilbert and Sullivan’s delightful operetta, The Mikado, running Friday, April 23 at 7:30 pm and Sunday, April 25 at 3:00 pm on the USA Department of Music YouTube Channel. The video production, featuring the talents of USA’s music students and faculty, was pre-recorded utilizing appropriate safety protocols. Through the magic of technology, it all comes together to create the full operatic performance experience. Don’t miss it!
