A Degree in Computing

I was going through a divorce and had decided to take a break from my previous degree (that was nowhere close to computing).  It was then that I kept getting phone calls from my family wanting me to help them fix their computer issues.  At that point, I realized that I loved working with computers more than the degree I was already following.  However, long before that, I had a love of computers; it just took me that long to realize it.

Finding Inspiration

My Grandmother, Mother and Father encouraged and motivated me.  My work was also there for me every step of the way allowing me to work on assignments or to get ahead in course work when there was a lag at work.

How Has Computing Changed?

I have seen it grow and transform in many different ways.  Technology is an ever-growing profession, and it is so much fun to continue to learn new things every day.  It is an amazing accomplishment when I can finally find the solution that is needed but it also provides me with ways to help solve problems, since I have encountered the issue previously.

Favorite Class/Favorite Instructor

I loved every class and every teacher.  Once I realized it was my passion, I just wanted to soak up any knowledge I could get a hold of to learn new, different, and exciting things.

Favorite Student Memories

My favorite memories involve the friendships that were made while obtaining my degree.  I had been in college for longer than the normal 4 years. But it was not until I decided to follow what I loved that going to class was not a problem.  In fact, it was the main part of my day that I looked forward to.

Encouraging Words

Enjoy every minute of college.  Learn as much as possible.  Never ever give up when you get out of college when a job does not come right away.  When the job does come, do not be afraid of new changes.  The things that scare us are usually the most worthwhile.  When you do get out in the field, do not be afraid to ask questions.  Finally, as you have probably already learned, Google is your new best friend.
