Purpose of Assignment

Researching your interests is an important step to setting career goals. What Can I Do With This Major? features 100 major profiles to help you research majors and industries of interest. Some examples of how you can use this resource in setting career goals include:

  • Exploring common career paths based on majors and major categories
  • Identifying types of employers that hire in the field
  • Developing strategies to maximize opportunities

Additionally, the knowledge you gain from this assignment directly relates to the NACE Career Readiness Competency of Career & Self-Development. Career readiness is key to ensuring successful entrance into the workforce and is the foundation upon which a successful career is launched.

Whether you’re exploring majors or searching for information about your chosen field, What Can I Do With This Major? can help. For this assignment you will identify at least 3 majors of interest from What Can I Do With This Major? to be discussed during your Career Development Orientation appointment. Estimated Duration: 20-30 minutes
