Biography

Pete McCarty was named director of the Coastal Weather Research Center in March 2016 after serving as manager from 2009 to 2016. Since joining Dr. Williams in the development of the Weather Center in 1988, Mr. McCarty is responsible for maintaining the uninterrupted flow of data to and from the Weather Center. Over the years, he has helped organize the services and the Center’s many computer products. Mr. McCarty assists in the preparation of forecasts and briefs clients when severe weather threatens. In addition to his regular duties as Director, Mr. McCarty also assists in the preparation of the Mobile Weather and Marine Almanac and has helps train meteorology students in the mechanics of operating a weather service.
