The University of South Alabama community rallied together to show its love for the University and USA Health during its third annual USA Giving Day on Friday, February 14. During the 24-hour online fundraising drive, a total of $534,671 was raised from 1,771 donors to support scholarships, research initiatives, athletics and USA Health programs.
Margaret Sullivan, vice president for development and alumni relations, said she is appreciative of the community’s ongoing support.
“We are overwhelmed by the continued generosity of our alumni, faculty, staff, students and friends,” Sullivan said. “The University and USA Health could not continue to grow and thrive without the support of our dedicated community. We are thrilled by the number of people who chose to give back on our third USA Giving Day.”
More than 10 matching gifts were offered on USA Giving Day, which enabled supporters to automatically double or triple their donation’s impact. Among these, longtime USA philanthropist Abraham Mitchell offered a two-to-one match toward the Mitchell-Moulton Scholarship Initiative, which supports scholarships for undergraduate students.
The special one-day campaign has ended; however, donations can be made to the University and USA Health at https://www.givecampus.com/campaigns/23442/donations/new or by calling (251) 460-7032.
