Posted on May 12, 2023
University of South Alabama Libraries Art Galleries presents Jazz Art Writers South Festival, “JAWS FEST,” to be held this month through June 29. The events are free and open to the public. There will be a host of musicians and artists showcasing their talent during the festival including Rick Diamond, “Photographer to the Stars.”
The JAWS FEST kicked off the festival with an art exhibit in celebration of Jazz music by “The Jazz Studio” along with a meet and greet reception at the Mary Elizabeth and Charles Bernard Rodning Gallery of Art and Gallery Hall in the USA Marx Library. This was a Jazz performance in visual art form.
“We are excited to present this annual event for the entire community to enjoy,” said USA Marx Libraries Outreach and Communications Librarian Paula Webb. “We are hosting several events and the closing celebration will include a free concert by the historic Excelsior Band at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 29. This will be a one-of-a-kind Jazz experience, and we look forward to having everyone join us.”
More artwork will be displayed in the new ArtSpace at the Charles M. Baugh Medical Library. All JAWS FEST information is available at Eventbrite.com.
