Emmy Award-winning broadcast journalist to speak at Mitchell Center

John Quiñones, Emmy Award-winning ABC News veteran and host of What Would You Do, will speak at the University of South Alabama's Mitchell Center on Friday, Oct. 1 at 1 p.m. There is no charge to attend; however, pre-registration is strongly encouraged.
Quiñones’ presentation will focus on celebrating the life-changing power of education and provide insights into human nature and ethical behavior. Known for connecting with audiences and leaving them uplifted and inspired, Quiñones will deliver a message of believing in one’s self and never giving up. As host and creator of What Would You Do, the hidden camera ethical dilemma newsmagazine, Quiñones has become the face of doing the right thing to millions of fans.
A fifth-generation Mexican-American, Quiñones grew up in an impoverished area of San Antonio, Texas. He went on to graduate from St. Mary's University and earn a master’s degree from Columbia University’s School of Journalism. He knows first-hand the value of education and overcoming seemingly insurmountable obstacles to achieve dreams.
Quiñones served as co-anchor of the ABC News program Primetime and reports for ABC News programs including 20/20, Good Morning America, ABC World News Tonight and Nightline. He is a seven-time Emmy Award winner and recipient of the George Foster Peabody Award and the National Hispanic Media Coalition's Lifetime Achievement Award.
