South Launches Executive Global Leadership Study Abroad Program
Posted on September 23, 2024
The University of South Alabama is launching the Executive Global Leadership Study Abroad program with an inaugural location in Greece, and all undergraduate students are invited to apply.
The new study abroad opportunity is a short-term experience open to any undergraduate student who is interested in exploring leadership at a global level. As a USA faculty-led program, students will engage in transformative international experiences while earning course credit in Educational Leadership. It will take place at the end of May (exact dates to be announced) and enrollment will be limited. Students will also be required to maintain a daily journal during this program which will be submitted for review upon returning to campus.
"Participants will visit historical world leadership locations in Greece and meet with current leaders of universities, as well as government officials,” said Dr. Andi Kent, executive vice president and provost. “They also will be challenged to understand leadership through a different lens, and reflect on how they can integrate those lessons into their academic and professional careers." The Executive Global Leadership Study Abroad Program is an initiative tied to the University’s strategic plan that focuses on expanding the number of students studying internationally.
Applicants will need to meet established USA Study Abroad eligibility and will submit a statement of purpose for applying to the program. Program officials are looking for future leaders with global perspectives.
Participants will also be eligible for USA's Study Abroad Scholarship. Make an appointment with a study abroad advisor for more information on other scholarship opportunities or how financial aid is applied to study abroad programs.
