South Alabama Athletic Director to Chair NCAA Baseball Committee

University of South Alabama Director of Athletics Dr. Joel Erdmann will serve as chair of the NCAA Division I Baseball Committee during the 2015-2016 academic year, it has been announced by the NCAA.
Erdmann, who represents the South Region on the 10-member committee, just completed his third year with the group. His responsibilities in the role include helping to select and seed the field for the NCAA Tournament as well as assist in site administration.
“I am humbled and honored for the opportunity to serve as chair of the committee,” said Erdmann. “The committee is made up of highly capable professionals who understand the core of our duty is to provide the best championship field and experience for our student-athletes, coaches and fans. I look forward to the upcoming year as we continue to move the baseball championship and the great game itself forward.”
Erdmann has served as athletic director at South Alabama since August 2009. Prior to coming to USA, Erdmann was a member of the NCAA Division II Football Committee during the 2006-07 academic year, and he also co-chaired the NCAA Division II Football Southeast Region Advisory Committee. He has been a member of the baseball, softball, golf and tennis committees in the Sun Belt Conference during his tenure with Jaguar Athletics.
