Earning this scholarship means a lot to me because it will support the journey of me getting to see the world. When I first heard about studying abroad, I was intrigued but also wondered about many of the logistics, cost/money being one of them. Studying abroad can be made achievable with the help of scholarships like the one I was awarded. Not only did it clear some of my hesitation towards studying abroad but it also made it more accessible. This is a really unique opportunity that I am incredibly excited to explore and be a part of. I feel extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to study abroad, and greatly appreciate the donors that made it possible.

My upcoming study abroad program, Communication and Promotion in Greece, is one of the most exciting programs I've ever had the pleasure of participating in! The scholarship I was provided will directly allow me to benefit from the culturally rich cities of Athens, Corinth, and Nafplio. The scholarships I have received from OIE have made it possible for me to study abroad for two months this summer in Dresden, Germany. This generosity is making a great impact on my academic progress here at the University of South Alabama; I am so thankful for the privilege of remaining a full-time student, who can focus more fully on my studies and less on financial pressure.

I feel a thrill inside when I consider that, by studying abroad with South, I am on the path to building a life that I love. I am a transfer student, and the primary thing that drew me back to school was the opportunity to study abroad in the country of my ancestry. My goals for my study abroad trip this summer are to become proficient in speaking and writing German, complete nine credits towards my German major and Global Engagement Certificate, build lasting relationships, and become a more conscientious global citizen. Receiving scholarships from OIE is accelerating me towards these goals by covering the expenses of tuition & books, airfare, train and bus fare in Germany, and food while there. This life-changing trip would be impossible for me without generous funding from donors like you. As a grateful scholarship recipient, I desire to represent the department well in all of my academic and societal endeavors. Thank you again for your investment into my dream.
