Our Mission & Purpose
At the University of South Alabama (South), student mental health and well-being are a priority. JAGS for JED is our initiative in partnership with The Jed Foundation (JED) to create a campus culture that prioritizes mental health, emotional well-being, and suicide prevention.
Mental health struggles are common, and no one should feel alone. Whether you need immediate support, ongoing care, or resources to help a friend, help is available. Our goal is to provide students, faculty, and staff with the tools they need to access support, offer guidance, and promote mental health awareness.
If you or someone you know is in crisis, call 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or 911 for immediate assistance.

Students – Join the JAGS for JED student organization, participate in mental health awareness
events, share resources with peers, and advocate for student wellness.
Faculty & Staff – Learn how to support students and refer them to appropriate resources.
Community Members – Support the initiative through partnerships, sponsorships, or outreach efforts.
