All of our tutors are students, just like yourself! We are always looking to expand our tutoring team and allow students the amazing opportunity to assist their fellow Jags! Requirements for Employment:

CAE offers three different roles. Each role has requirements that must be met prior to being considered for employment. The reason for this is to ensure that our peers are provided with an outstanding experience when visiting the CAE. The requirements for each role can be found below:

 

Requirements

Project Assistant

  • GPA minimum of 3.0
  • Provide a current resume
  • Complete online application

Subject Tutor

  • GPA minimum of 3.0
  • Sophomore student status achieved 
  • Have taken a minimum of 30 credit hours
  • Have made an A in the courses you wish to tutor 
  • Provide a current resume
  • Complete online application

 Writing Lab Tutor 

  • GPA minimum of 3.0
  • Sophomore student status achieved 
  • Have taken a minimum of 30 credit hours 
  • Have made an A in writing courses you have taken 
  • Provide academic writing samples 
  • Provide a current resume
  • Complete online application

 


 

Employment Roles and Responsibilities:

The CAE offers three starting roles of employment, with each respective role, come unique responsibilities. These opportunities vary between the different roles and will be performed throughout every shift you work. The different responsibilities for every role are detailed below:

 

Responsibilities

Project Assistant

  • Scheduling, cancelling, and re-scheduling appointments for clients
  • Opening duties (Front desk set-up, following up with emails, etc.)
  • Closing duties (Wiping down tables, pushing in chairs, locking up the office)
  • Community outreach (Presentations, attending table events, represent the CAE)
  • Answering the phone and responding to emails

Subject Tutor

  • Maintain a welcoming and professional attitude
  • Provide professional feedback to clients about classwork concerns
  • Give examples to clients regarding coursework
  • Community outreach (Presentations, attending table events, represent the CAE)
  • Provide study skills and techniques that helped you succeed in a certain subject

 Writing Lab Tutor 

  • Maintain a welcoming and professional attitude
  • Provide assistance regarding formatting depending on the writing assignment
  • Provide resources that you found useful when completing a writing assignment
  • Give constructive feedback on how to craft a well-rounded paper/essay
  • Provide skills and techniques that helped you during a writing assignment
