Dr. Svynarenko discusses war in Ukraine Dr. Anton Svynarenko, a visiting assistant professor of Russian in the Department of Modern and Classical Languages and Literature is from Kharkiv, Ukraine, a city left heavily damaged by the Russian invasion. Rachel Burdine, IS graduate After graduating from the University of South Alabama, Rachel Burdine joined the Peace Corp and traveled to Cameroon. Today she works for World Relief as a program officer supporting the organization’s network of offices resettling refugees. |

Rebecca Culberson wins Gilman Scholarship Rebecca Culberson, a senior international studies major at South Alabama, is the recipient of the 2021 Gilman Scholarship and will receive a $4000 stipend for travel. |

Two IS majors elected to offices in student government The Student Government Association officers at the University of South Alabama have been elected for the 2021-22 academic year. Grace Sekaya, a junior majoring in international studies and pre-med, was elected SGA president. Hope Bae, a junior majoring in international studies, was elected vice president. |
