Message from the Dean Welcome to the first issue of the Mitchell Report. I’m Bob Wood, Dean of the Mitchell College of Business; I joined the College in July of 2014. I’d like to use this first column to introduce you to Mobile, the University of South Alabama, and the Mitchell College of Business. |

She has over seven years of experience as a business librarian working with students and faculty at Vanderbilt University and Auburn University. |

Sonya L. Clark, Ed.D., is the new Director of the Professional Readiness Engagement Program Sonya L. Clark, Ed.D., is the new Director of the Professional Readiness Engagement Program in the MCOB. Dr. Clark has a management career spanning over 15 years in the DC/MD/VA area, and most recently, as the first Training Coordinator for the Department of Communications at Alabama State University (ASU) in Montgomery, Ala. where for over seven years she provided professional development workshops, internship placement and career planning to undergraduates. |

Student Spotlight Audrey Hofer I am starting my senior year, completing a double major in accounting and finance here at South Alabama. I was born in Mobile and couldn’t imagine loving a city more. Beta Alpha Psi Named Superior Chapter The University of South Alabama’s Epsilon Beta Chapter of Beta Alpha Psi (Accounting Honor Society) was given the superior chapter award at the Beta Alpha Psi National Meeting in Milwaukee, WI on August 8, 2015. To earn superior chapter designation, the chapter had to meet all professional and service hour requirements along with all reporting requirements for the last academic year. |

FMA Leaders’ Conference 2015 Six members of the University of South Alabama’s student chapter of the Financial Management Association (FMA) attended the FMA Leaders’ Conference in New York City March 12th and March 13th 2015. |

University of Stellenbosch Business School Students Visit In July, the Mitchell College hosted University of Stellenbosch (South Africa) MBA students in Mobile and New Orleans. The visit, a part of the University’s international exposure effort, included students from South Africa, Namibia, Kenya, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Faculty Highlights Greg Prescott has been appointed to the editorial board of The Journal of Corporate Accounting & Finance in May 2015. Greg taught several courses in Accounting and Commercial Lending in the 40th annual session of the Alabama Banking School (ABS) in July 2015 on USA's campus. Greg has been a faculty member of the ABS since 1998. |
